Proper Pie is a MUST VISIT for anyone in Richmond, VA! Every pie-- sweet and savory-- is absolutely, perfectly delicious! ud83eudd24 Because of covid-19, you must order online and then wait in the socially distanced line for pick up. It moves pretty quickly. I recommend taking your pie over to the park across from the church nearby. You may just have to loop back and grab some more pies for the road, too! ud83dude03

Proper Pie is one of Richmond's treasures, and should be appreciated whenever possible. They operate out of a small hole in the wall type space in Church Hill, on Broad Street. They offer both Aussie-inspired savory pies which are usually single serving as well as all the sweet pies you can dream up. The selection varies by day, so be prepared to try something new, you won't be disappointed. Knowing their customer base in Richmond, they offer vegetarian and vegan sweet and savory pies on every menu. Whole sweet pies are also available.nnDuring COVID times, their business is take-out only, with ordering and payment handled on their website. I find this to be an advantage as the website opens two hours before pickup, so I can order in the morning knowing that I won't make it out until late afternoon, and still get my first choice of pie(s). There are several lovely parks nearby if you want to take your pie in hand and enjoy the scenery in Historic Church Hill.nnWhy should you go to Proper Pie? Because Pie!!!

I used to live in NZ for a few years and I went here having really high hopes when I heard they serve mince/steak pies AUS/NZ style.nI had the Mince + Cheese pie, Sausage Roll, and the Lamb Pasty.nThe Mince Pie was pretty good. Not exactly the same flavor as the ones I had in NZ and Australia but very close.nIt was also kind of pricey, I think I paid like $7 or something for one mince pie.nnThe sausage roll was pretty good, kind of bland but that's how I like it since you can put ketchup or something else on top of it.nnThe Lamb Pasty was not good.

Wow!!! Amazing meat pies as well as their Banana pie. I wish they were open for breakfast. We will definitely go there again. My kids said that was the best banana pie they ever had.

Great flaky savory pies that are a gem to find in Richmond. Got the minced meat pie, chicken and a pulled pork version that were all great. Not dry and not over spiced. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a meal in a pie.
