I did not experience rudeness from the receptionist. I'm uncertain about the negative reviews but everyone should be heard I suppose. Most of what I see are objections to the receptionist. Not as much towards Dr. Mihalache. Dr. Mihalache treated me very well and listened closely to my comments and concerns. I called the receptionist to ask the doctor several questions and the recept. returned my call and answered all my questions as well as being very respectful towards me. I'm looking forward to seeing Dr. Mihalache again.

After 3 years of going here I am unfortunately going to have to switch. The first time I visited I walked into the receptionist yelling on the phone at a client about finding the office. It set a hostile tone for my visit. After getting some blood work done at a later appointment, I was having issues with my account and viewing my results. It was important to me to view my results and so I called the office to ask about resetting my password. Already nervous, I was treated so poorly and in such an unprofessional manner that it brought me to tears during an uncertain time- all in reference to a simple question about accessing my account. The lack of care, harsh tone, and condescending attitude over a very simple question was the last straw for me. Monica Mihalache is a sweet doctor who I enjoyed going to. The reason for leaving this practice is due to the receptionist who has time and time again caused a very hostile experience for me (and clearly others, as can be read by the reviews.) I would avoid purely based on the hostility that this one person brings to this office. The behavior of this receptionist is absolutely unacceptable, especially in the medical profession.

**My response to Dr. Mihalache's reply**nnMaya Angelou once beautifully said “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This practice has consistently proven to me and made me feel that Dr. Monica Mihalache’s interactions with patients, including me, are solely transactional. It’s disheartening that as a healthcare provider, someone who is supposed to heal and care, she acts in this manner.nnWhat is striking about Dr. Mihalache’s response to my review is firstly, the fixation on the price of what I was charged at her practice. Rather than send me the medical documentation I had requested, where all of these details would have been included, I am now being admonished for getting the prices wrong and accused of ‘defamation’.nnSecondly, the fact that there is no attempt at reconciliation and her dismissive tone towards me is again indicative of the way she treats patients. This adds insult to injury especially because I called the practice multiple times and she refused to speak with me on the phone, relaying to the receptionist that she would only speak to me after I at least book a $75 virtual doctor’s appointment visit even though I have no current medical concerns or reason to see her besides asking for the letter regarding my past visit. As she points out, I did request that the letter be sent to me by end of business day. She balks at this request, but she could have easily told me that she’d alternatively send it at her earliest availability, in a day or two if she was too busy to send it then. To reiterate, the only reason I requested I speak with Dr. Mihalache directly the second time I called is because I was trying to explain the nature of my request, to make it clear it did not necessitate a physical examination. Again, I was blatantly ignored and told I would need to at least pay the charge for a virtual appointment. Just to ask her for a letter!nnIf you want to be treated as a person with needs and feelings, and not just one of many who come and go into this practice, don’t come here. There is a lack of quality customer service, a lack of individualized care, a lack of empathy, and a lack of kindness. And those things can’t be replaced regardless of how formally educated you are or how many degrees you have up on your wall or how much money you make. Money can’t buy integrity.nn**ORIGINAL REVIEW**nIt is clear from the other reviews that my dissatisfaction with Dr. Monica Mihalache's care is not a standalone case. Rather, I am just one person of many, including friends, who is frustrated by her practice. I visited her office with my mother and we paid about $300 ($150 each) in copay to see her. After the visit, I called the office asking for a doctor's note that explained my visit with her. Essentially, my medical record. Instead of answering my request, she insisted that I must come in for another visit, pay another copay, and only then would she provide me a note. In my opinion, a healthcare provider must first demonstrate kindness and understanding for their patients, but this individual is first and foremost operating like a businessperson, disregarding my care and needs. I asked her why I need to make another appointment because I don't need to see her for any health issues, simply a summary of my last visit. Again, she refused. I told her that I've been staying home because of covid-19 and that I have a compromised immune system, not wanting to leave my home for an unnecessary visit. She quickly offered an online virtual visit so that I would still have to pay a copay. Essentially, she wanted to sell me a piece of paper for $150 to outline my previous visit with her, again persisting that I must make another appointment before she would give me the piece of paper. She is a scam and a sorry excuse for how a doctor is supposed to behave. To those considering visiting her practice, BE CAUTIOUS and AVOID HER. She doesn't care about people, she's driven by making profit.

Dr. Mihalache is an excellent doctor! Very carrying, empathic and with excellent bedside manners. She is very knowledgeable and always takes the time to give me explanations, answers all my questions, and I never feel rushed. At the same time, her office is ran very well and I never had to wait in the waiting room past my appointment time. What I appreciate the most is that, despite her busy schedule, she offers the flexibility you need as a patient when you get sick and, more than once, she was able to see me and my mom for a last minute, same-day appointment. She is the best PCP I’ve had in Northern Virginia and I recommended her to my entire family!
