Gentle Dental Missoula

I saw Dr. Whalen a few months ago and was finally able to see someone else to assess the damage he'd done. Please do not go here. This man should not be allowed to practice. He chipped my tooth and 2 of the fillings he put in need to be entirely redone. I knew something was wrong at the time, but when I asked him to check he became hostile and denied there was a problem. Listen to the reviews. He has anger problems and is dangerously incompetent. He also makes his patients sit almost entirely upside down throughout the session, which I'd never in my 30-some years as a dental patient had to endure. During one session, I almost passed out. I saw him only because he was the only dentist in town accepting Medicaid who had an opening within the month. If this is your situation and it's at all possible, wait. His entire staff, especially his assistant, is incredibly kind and competent, but I deeply regret not listening to the many terrible reviews and finding someone else.

I unfortunately had a part of my back molar break off yesterday. Dr. Whalen was the only dentist that could get me in ASAP and accepted my insurance. I had an appointment the next day after calling. I thought I was going to have to have my tooth pulled but he saved it. He was thorough and kind. He did a wonderful job numbing my tooth. I didn’t even feel the needle when he stuck my gums. There are a lot of terrible reviews on here for him, but my experience was just fine. He just called personally to check on me and how I was feeling. He was more than sweet and caring on the phone, and so far I have zero complaints about his work. My tooth looks great and I am not in any pain.

By far the worst experience I've called about my wife's teeth and Robert Whelan said he does know what the problem could be but my wife cant eat or drink cause of what he did to her mouth and she been in pain for weeks and he had nothing to say about it except that it couldn't have happened here at my dental office and that's totall bs and how would someone be able to sue.

I was actually pretty happy with this dentist and had an appointment to get some fillings and another appointment to get a cleaning. I got ex rays and an exam and the office is a little dated but everyone was very friendly. I had an appointment to get a filling and I woke up in the morning with some kind of stomach bug so I called them at 930 am and my appointment was at 4pm. There was an extremely rude receptionist who I have never spoken to before who informed me that I would be charged 50$ for cancelling. I said well I'm sick would you like me to come anyways? She said YES!? What kind of dental practice wants sick patients coming into their office. I said my appointment is not until 4 and I called you as soon as I could. She was snotty and had zero customer service skills. If a dental office wants patients to come into their office when they are sick then I do not want anyone there sticking their hands in my mouth. I told her to cancel all future appointments. Horrible customer service and horrible policy. Great way to lose clients.

I had a dental emergency and they were able to get me in the next day with no problems. The staff was great and very professional. I thought the doctor was very thorough and good at his job and he was funny also. I recommend him and his staff to anyone. Thanks for helping me.
