I went to Gallery 22 (22 Winter Street, Delaware, Ohio) and saw Artist William Scott Obenour's art. He has a great exhibit of abstracts, photography, and portraits! I decided to see the exhibit because had the pleasure to admire some of his work at The Guild in Marion Ohio and now I am a proud owner of some of his work. When I first walked in Gallery 22, I was actually surprised by the space and now is something I want to pursue in the future to have my own show and/or work in it. Gallery 22 is a great space for artists to have a grand opening of their work, to work in, and so forth! The space has a great feel and wonderful flow. They have exposed the brick and has that old warehouse look, which I love. It is located in a busy street where you will get plenty of traffic for people to come in and admire your work. By going to the exhibit I got to look at his work differently. Instead looking at it as in an art store feeling I got to look at it as if I was in an art museum. Here people can truly pay attention to your work, only. Pay attention to detail, the feeling of what might be the meaning behind a piece, and the way the work is displayed around. For instance, there was a piece that I loved because it reminded me of a beautiful sunset. And his energy series gives you a sense of emotion and plays into the mood and the flow of the space you are in. When you are in this space, especially at night, people can see all the way inside and attracts them to come in, take a closer look, and admire your work. I liked how the work was displayed around the room; all the walls were covered with paintings and photographs, the main two walls and the walls around the corner to the back, where you can set up a table with wine, cheese, and crackers for your visitors. Or just your business cards and small prints of your work. There is ample space for people to walk and gather around and chat.
