I have been going to Dr. Martinez for about five years now. I have always been impressed by the quality of his practice. His staff and he are always very down-to-earth, friendly, straightforward, awesome people.

I was a patient of Dr Martinez’s years ago and regularly still think about my terrible experience. The reviews are great online, so I felt comfortable visiting a new doctor the first time since moving away from my childhood dentist. I went once for a cleaning. During my exam, the doctor listed off almost every single tooth to the hygienist because it needed to be “watched” for cavities that are starting. I was in shock and visibly pretty upset with the apparent condition of my teeth.nnI have a gold crown that was about 10 years old at the time; Dr. says it needs replaced because that’s the lifespan of a gold crown. Weird - when it was installed the dentist said it would be good for life if I took care of the area. Three other dentists I’ve since seen confirmed they are good for life with proper care, and mine is in great condition (now 15 years old).nnDr. then starts asking how much I grind my teeth and convinces me they have been ground to oblivion. He starts pointing out nervous habits while I’m in the chair. I’ve just been told almost every tooth has a cavity and now I have a teeth grinding problem that was never brought up prior - I’m going to be exhibiting some nervousness that I don’t need pointed out by someone I just met. I’ve seen three other dentists since and none have tried to assert I grind my teeth.nnSo in short, during my first and only visit, I was told I have about 25 cavities forming, I need a gold crown replaced, and I need a $500 night mouth guard. Seems reasonable when I haven’t had a cavity from the dentists I’ve seen since.nnMy boyfriend had a similar experience here. They will say anything to get more money. Would never recommend.nnJust remembered some other highlights. He asked if I suck my thumb and implied I was lying about my response of no...? I also had a teeny chip in my front tooth from hitting it with a fork while eating, which is already embarrassing enough, but he thought I was lying about that as well and I was actually trying to open beer bottles. It wasn’t a casual comment, he was persistent that I was lying and made it clear. Super uncomfortable all around. Which is why I’m still thinking about it and compelled to write a review five years later. Just got back from a new dentist appt today and can’t stop contrasting the experiences.

Still my favorite dentist office. Super friendly people, very accommodating. Love that all the equipment and rooms are very clean and hygienic (they always have been, even before COVID-19 safety issues). And now my teeth are thoroughly clean!

After a couple of bad experiences, I spent most of my life actively afraid of going to the dentist, and my teeth paid the price. That finally changed once I found Dr. Martinez and the staff at VV Dental. On my first visit, they didn't give me a hard time for how long it had been since I had a cleaning (something past dentists shamed me for). They took care of the work I needed with a minimum of pain and fuss, and they were there when I needed an emergency visit for a broken tooth. Plus they're all just super nice people. And now that I'm in the habit of twice-yearly cleanings, I appreciate their efforts to maintain the practice safely amid the pandemic. Can't say enough good things.
