My brother lost everything in an apartment fire 3 weeks ago at the Fairfield Pointe Apartment complex. While the firefighters did a great job putting out the fire as quickly as possible and making sure all the people were ok, we were very disappointed in their efforts to save my brothers cats. You see all those stories about fire fighters who risk their lives to save animals from fire but those are far from what actually happened at the scene of the fire in Fairfield three weeks ago. We got to the apartment as soon as we heard about the fire and told multiple police officers and fire fighters that there were cats in the building, only to be told that there was nothing they could do. One of the cats was able to get out when the door was kicked down but was on her own for 3 weeks before we just found her this past Sunday. However, we found out from the maintenance workers at the complex that the other cat never made it out and her body was found under the sink, where she was probably trying to hide and take cover from the fire. I understand putting out the fire was first priority but standing outside in the pouring rain and watching a building burn down that you know your pets are in is something no one should ever have to go through and something I will never forget
