The Athena Cinema

Great place. This is where my mother had to sit on the floor watching dances with wolves when it first came out in the 80’s.

This is a nice theater in town that focuses on smaller movies and documentaries but will show quality bigger movies as well. They also host a lot of events and festivals. The hardest part is finding parking. You might get lucky and get a spot in front of the theater, but if not there is a parking garage right around the corner. There are also food options within walking distance.nnThe prices are low, they have multiple screens, and they show movies you wouldn't otherwise be able to see in Athens. That alone deserves 5 stars.

Saw Blade Runner with live musical accompaniment and it was fantastic. This historical theater always has fun screenings.

Great old theatre! Super bonus points for free coffee refills, the coffee was pretty good as well. Good seating and sound. The staff was super nice and were accommodating when I asked for an unhealthy amount of butter on my popcorn, which was local, from Shagbark. The bathroom and theatre were clean, as were the lobby and hallways. Also bonus points for some of the seating having fold away tiny desks.nnGreat experience and I look forward to returning.
