We have encountered a very bad experience dealing with UPS. We took a restored vintage bicycle to the Horseheads store 8/15/13 to have packaged and shipped to Sonoma, CA at a whopping cost of $190.61. The female clerk told us the package would arrive there on 8/22/13. On our arrival we discovered the bike had not been delivered as promised and when I left several phone messages at the store none were returned. Finally out of desperation I emailed the store on 8/26/13 and did received an email back the next day stating the bike was on its way. The clerk neglected to tell us it had been shipped the same day she received my email inquiry. The bike was delivered damaged on Sept 3, 2013. Somewhere along its journey it had been dropped out of its box and was severely damaged with some parts missing. The box was 2 large boxes one cut in half and placed inside the other, very little tape was used on the box opening, bike parts were not wrapped at all and there was very little packing peanuts in the bottom. Again I was not able to speak with anyone at the store by phone for a week. VERY RUDE AND UNBUSINESSLIKE!!!!! I sent pictures and statement itemizing the damage in an email. I was told the process would take a few weeks. Little did we know we would have to get Corporate Headquarters involved and finally received our reimbursement check December 9th. We would encourage everyone not to do business with UPS. This experience has opened our eyes to the way this organization handles difficult situations.
