I loved going to the Asbury Park Library with my mother when I was a child. The place smelled of old books, and the stained glass windows with the quotation from Longfellow were beautiful. Walking down the ramp into the children's section made me feel as if I were entering a forest of lovely climbable trees. I so adored reading The Tall Book of Make Believe and this one book about hiding (it had a pink and orange striped cover). I loved the little chairs. And how rich I felt when I could pick out whichever books I wanted to borrow! I never felt such a connection to the Neptune Library or to the Eatontown library. These weren't as cozy or inviting as the Asbury Park Library, which also happened to be a block away from my grandmother's house. I cherish the Asbury Park Library and hope to visit it someday, after the pandemic is over. It was like church for me, like a cathedral of stories. God bless the librarians who take care of its collection.

Kind and helpful staff here. Kathleen, the head librarian, is always supportive of creating events and workshops in the space, especially in the oak lined Bradley room. There's a Tiffany window that I always bring my AP guests to see. Free discards in lobby are full of cool vintage finds. There's also a super cheap sale table inside of books and albums. Books are an eclectic mix. I like to browse in non-fiction and find treasures every time. TIP - newest books are shelved in first few rows of REFERENCE area. With your library card you get 5 Hoopla borrows a month which includes movies, audio and ebooks. Library card is easy to get and is a photo-id. There's a good copier and you can email print jobs. I think you can fax too. There's a notary available. Free wi-fi. Free on-street parking.

I like them there. They are very nice at the front desk, but expect to do everything yourself. They don't have great equipment for photo copying. A lot of money will be wasted with the configuration settings that change every other copy. I'm very excited in their American pride because their flag was just perfect when I went to take a picture of the rotten black and weathered flag that was just up; living next door I see everything. ud83eudd16ud83dudc7dud83eudddaud83cudfcbufe0fud83cudfcbufe0fud83dudc7blud83eudd3a
