Moved daughter back into school.

I don't know about their college programs but I am disappointed in their classes for kids and teens. Last summer my daughter signed up for several of their week long camps. One of them was canceled last minute and we never received an email or call letting us know, I only found out when I called to ask about supplies. The other ones she attended she liked but every day the teacher left over 30 minutes early, she has 'somewhere to go'. ?! I signed her up this fall for a class and again, it was canceled with no notification to me, I called again to ask about supplies and they said 'oh no we have all the supplies' but the girl seemed so hesitant that I asked to clarify the address and she said 'which class? Oh that's been canceled, didn't you get the email?' Nope. I'm still waiting on my refund check, it's going on 9 days now. Edit - they got back to me today about my check, said it was issued yesterday (a week after they let me know it was being refunded) and I would receive it in a week. Since mail takes one day within the city of Cincinnati, I am doubting their honesty. We will never sign up for classes here again, that is for sure.

They offer great community education classes for non-students.

The Art Academy is a great place to learn the most important part about maintaining a career in the arts--community. I don't know of an institution more structured around fostering an artist community than the Academy. During my time there, I knew my peers and faculty on a personal level and this translated into an intimate knowledge of each other's work. I was also provided with several opportunities to build my resume. There were always shows posted, internships available, and I even ran figure drawing sessions, monitored the school's wood shop, and became a school ambassador. As this is my first year post graduation, I have still maintained a close relationship with a group of my classmates and out of that came two job opportunities over the summer before I began my MFA. The Art Academy is like a family and through all of that family's quirks, I miss it already!
