In the mornings there's a smell (scratch that) a stench of burnt rubber that permeates through Lansing. I live amongst trees about 3 miles away, and in the summer mornings when I walk out expecting to smell fresh trees and I smell burnt rubber tires, I get worried. Are they adding railroad ties, or rubber tire chips to increase the temperature of the furnace in the mornings to get it going faster? Because that's what it smells like throughout the city? What's that doing to my lungs and my kid's young developing lungs? Is this stuff carcinogenic? Many questions to be answered. Even if it's harmless to my health, it's still an unpleasant to smell in the mornings. Takes away from the quality of life.

History of lansing can be realized in its infrastructure. Eckert will close soon and i think of all the people this place has made successful. All the families it has supported. So long old friend

Was able to take a tour of this Lansing Icon. Unbelievable the complexity of all it takes to keep it running.
