McLaren Flint - Flushing Community Medical Center

I rescheduled my first new patient appointment with Audrey Anderson because my husband was in Hurley, in critical condition. I needed my life saving medications, and I called for refills and I was told because I rescheduled my appointment, she would not refill my prescriptions! If I don’t have them, I’m at risk for a heart attack, or stroke. I sure miss Dr. Oltmanns.

I will suffer an extra star because my call was returned promptly and because Dr. Dotson may be a perfectly wonderful doctor. I am a practice manager at a small optometry clinic and called to obtain an authorization for an emergency visit. Blue Care Network had listed Dr. Dotson as the patient's provider at the time of our service. The woman in records promptly took offense when I requested the authorization and told me that she would be committing fraud. Only after this comment did she inform me that the patient had never seen Dr. Dotson. Well fair enough, if the coarseness was somewhat undignified. I asked the woman in records if, because our patient is in a low income situation, there was a course of action in which we could obtain an authorization. Well, certainly not, she promptly informed me because that would be fraudulent. Working in the medical field, I am no stranger to people requesting activities that are not permitted. Generally asking if there is a way forward is in no way fraudulent and, in a not so distant past, considered part of being a patient advocate. Given the nature of our work, it is a fair expectation that all parties take the time to explore possibilities before determining that they cannot help the patient and not prior. If somewhat unrelated, it begs comment that this charmer's voicemail offered God's blessings. I am sorry to say this plea to divine assistance gave the distinct impression of being offered in lieu of a minimal effort to help real people. I grieve the degrading state of medicine in which no apparent care is even superficially offered to patients.

My family dr and ob are in this office and they are both amazing!nI love the convenience of the lab being in the office as well.

PA Audrey Anderson is nice, attentive and pays attention to detail. The office staff on the other hand leaves much to be desired. It took a month and a half to make an appointment for my boyfriend and he arrived 20 minutes before his scheduled appointment and they turned him away stating he was supposed to arrive 30 minutes in advance. They wouldn't let him wait to be seen. Then stated they weren't booking until January. I asked for the Dr to call me to discuss this... Surprise I never got a call. This is bad practice. If they are that busy and can't see people then they shouldn't be taking on new clients. My boyfriend noticed that they were having some sort of party and he felt that they just didn't want to be bothered processing a new patient. There were only 2 people up front and several in the back room where the party was going on. Tsk Tsk.

I have always had great experiences here. For the most part I never wait too long for an appointment. The lab is great. Dr Dotson is my primary and he is a great person and a very thorough doctor. Anytime I have a question I can call in and get a response very quickly.
