As far as free beaches go, Hagar Park Beach is quite lovely. Not a long stretch of sand, and not as flashy as some of the local tourist traps like Oval Beach of Saugatuck or South Beach of South Haven, which makes Hagar Park Beach the perfect place to get away from it all, and the crowds for that matter! There's a little playground at the top near the parking lot equipped with a picnic area, and a steep staircase that leads down to the golden sands of Lake Michigan, where one can sunbathe, catch some waves, or build castles with the kids (and maybe bury grandpa while you're at it!)

Clean and beautiful! If your visiting Michigan and definitely wanna see a Great Lake this is the place. Warm sand and beautiful view!

Great park. Came when it was cold so do not know about swimming. We had fun playing on the park and walking along the beach.bery nice playground for the kids.

Nice view with good stairs leading down to the beach. Nice play area for the children with plenty of parking.

It's less busy than the other local beaches. It's nice and quiet. The only downside is that it's not wheelchair accessible because of all the stairs. The bathrooms are port a potties in the parking lot. So keep that in mind if you're bringing small children with you.nnThe playground is nice. Super nice to be in the shade during the hot days.
