Amazing people. I went through a journey of remodeling and the lake county building department provided me with the help and support I needed. They worked in a way “How to support you instead of How to get you”. Really appreciate the help of each one of them and in particular the team I worked with (Cindy, Erik, Eva, Robert and Kelly). Lake County Building and Zoning has been very helpful. There are goofy rules and regulations that are out of their control. I appreciate their sympathetic attitude and ability to help navigate and abide by the regulations set forth by completely different people and departments. Working with any government agency always has potential for frustration and dead ends. The employees at Lake County are very helpful and efficient.
They were incredibly nice and sat down to make sure our permit would have as little trouble going through as possible. I went in the AM and had no wait at all.
In any government office you get those dedicated to public service and those that can't find employment anywhere else. This place got all the second type. General comedy of errors and standard incompetent government employees.nnMake no mistake, this place exists to be a revenue source. It took three weeks to get a permit and my original plans did not change one bit. They added nothing of value to the entire process. The inspectors, as a whole, have trouble keeping their stories straight. And heaven help you if you have stairs.nnIf you can stay away from and never deal with these people -do. If you are compelled (for that is the only way anyone walks into this place) to deal with these people, I'm sorry.
People are nice. Hours and service is terrible. Open from 8-4 m-f. Not a person in line inf ront of me and I have been waiting at the desk for over 30 min
