This school has plenty of mice, is not technologically advanced and does not offer many AP courses, BUT as long as you stay out of trouble, you will do fine! Sure, this school gets on the news at least once a year, but it honestly is not that bad. I am Proviso West's first Golden Apple Scholar, and I can truthfully say that I would not have gotten it without the help of some of my teachers. My advice is to enroll in all of the Honors and AP courses that are available.

I attended this prison for 2 years (2015-16 & 2016-17)... To sum it up:n-this prison barely offers any classes & has very low test scores.n-ghetto/rude prisoners.n-prisoners use drugs in class & in the bathrooms (one guy in class used a blunt right next to me and didn't get in trouble even though the teacher said he smelled it from the other side of the room).n-mice/bug problem.n-staff/faculty curse at the prisoners, I mean students.n-very little resources available when a prisoner wants to stand out above the rest (basically a huge limit on education).n-classes teach material that most kids should learn in middle school.n-pregnant girls in every grade.n-pornography filmed in some of the rooms (I wish I was kidding).nnOverall rating: 0/10 would not recommend.

:This a horrible place to send your child. My baby was bullied. I called to get help and she was pulled out of her classes to talk about the problems, causing her grades to suffer. Then she was forced to take her finals a week early to avoid a fight. Instead of sending the fighters away, they sent my child because my child was easier to calm down!

This school might get a bad rap and I was concerned when my daughter started class there but in the end it paid off. Proviso W is what the student and parent make of it. My daughter was able to take honor and advance classes that prepared her better for college that what she learned on her last year of HS in California. She never had an issue with any other students and made a lot of good friends that she still keep in touch. I dealt with school staff on various times and they always were professional and willing to help. Im very proud of what my daughter was able to accomplish there and she was accepted to a good college on a good program, thanks Proviso W!!

Ghetto cespool that WAS a decent school decades ago. Race wars of the 70s and white flight ftom the area sealed its fate.
