Hillside Public Library

Honestly a joy to visit. Super kid friendly. Everyone extremely kind and welcoming. We're lucky to be a part of this community.

I'm glad that they are open! They provide so many Services and make my life easier. I'm thankful to have a library in my neighborhood. Free books too!!

As a Hillside resident of IL, I and others have suffered from the unnecessary inconvenience that Hillside Library has caused its citizens. I have to go to neighboring Berkeley and other libraries even for small needs like printing a document during COVID-19. On January 5, 2021, I have called the Hillside library to find out if they will allow me to do mobile printing, which means you email the document to the library, and they will print it for you. The person who answered the phone hesitatively, responded saying that I cannot do it right away, and I need to make an appointment. And she said that the first appointment is available after 2 hours at 4.30 PM just for picking up a document at the curbside. I felt insane and asked her why they are so harsh towards us citizens. She asks me to speak to the director, and she has transferred my call to the director. I requested the director for his administration to adopt the methodology that the neighboring libraries are doing. They, providing their citizens and neighbors with all the library needs while taking all the necessary COVID-19 precautions. The director claimed that the library building is not suitable to operate safely, and the lack of ventilation could put his staff at risk of getting sick. I told him that the service I am requesting is curbside and does not require me to enter the building, and is irrelevant to what I am asking. I feel bad for all the Hillside residents who do not have efficient library services available. And while the neighboring libraries can offer all types of services to their citizens. I request the director at Hillside library not to discourage the patrons like me by making it inconvenient to conduct small curbside transactions by offering longer waiting times and asking patrons to make unnecessary appointments for petty transactions like picking up a printout. And while there should not be a need for an appointment. Particularly at this library, where there are not many patrons compared to their neighboring library. I went to the Berkeley library as a Hillside resident, and I was well treated and got my print out. I saluted the heroes at the Berkeley library.

I used to go here all the time. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It is usually quite too, which is great!
