Mary's Chapel is a beautiful little country church with lovely people. It's located in Philippi, WV. At the moment, it is a Methodist church, not Catholic, as one reviewer noted. The cemetery beside the church, which is not owned by Mary's Chapel, is occupied by many generations of deceased.

Mary's Chapel is located in Barbour County West Virginia. This is where my Uncle Donald Wilson is buried. His grave is next to his wife out the side on the right of Mary's Chapel. His wife was My Aunt Glenna who died in a fire out at Grandad Wilsons house. I still remember the smell of smoke in the house. My Grandad Wilson drove me to that farm and I remember him buying me a bottle of Pop, orange drink, that they kept cold in a machine. There was a wagon at the house and I remember what fun I had as rolled down the hill. Next to that house their was a pump house, where you could get water and a grapevine grew on the side of the house. They had a fine farm anout 49 acres if my memory is correct. And the house stills stands. There used to be an old dirt road there. The last time I traveled there the road. It was a bumpy asphalt road now because of all the heavy equipment from the oil and coal trucks. There was a washroom just outside the door with a washing machine, where we washed oir clothes.nAnyway Uncle Donald was a Veteran who served in the Battle of the Bulge. How many medals he won, I do not remember. He was buried in a huge crypt made out of concrete, they played taps, but of course it was taped.nAnyway I remember when Aunt Glenna died. My mom told me Glenna died. And we drove to her funeral. I flew in a jet to Clarksburg and rented a car and traveled there and stayed at the Phillipi Inn, now the Mountineer hotel. Locals cannot stay there. You must be from out of town. Because the people in town leave the rooms a mess and do drug deals. I was at the Clarksburg VA hospital and I wondered what room he was in when he died. His heart gave out.nAnyway Mary's Chapel must be a Catholic Church and I never remember going there because I am a protestant Lutheran church, Missouri Synod. There was a feud in the family when my Uncle Donald and Aunt Glenna against my mother Sevva Mae Wilson who played the French horn in the high school band in Barborville. I remember to this day I was 6 or 8 years old when they took me to Massachusetts to live for a while. Aunt Glenna had a steam press for ironing clothes. I remember a white seal in a bar and saw Plymouth Rock.nAnyway Uncle Donald took care of that cemetary, mowed the grass, and even worked on the cemetary at Taylors Drain. Lillian Phillips is buried there too as well as George Wilson, his father . He worked for Southern States. Anyway thats all for now. Also there are many Proudfoots buried there as well.
