Carroll Senior High School

Quality of education is not what you'd expect from a school which such a good GreatSchools rating. I've attended 4/10 and a 6/10 GreatSchools high schools and they both had much better AP curricula and teachers. I got better AP scores on subjects I self-studied with Barron's than I did in classes I took here. Massive differences in course quality between instructors for the same course. Most homework is busy work and pointless projects and don't teach anything. There is a general culture of elitism and a lot of really conservative thinking. Students aren't welcoming and there's rampant cheating on tests and homework. Adminstration is completely incompetent. I didn't play sports, but I heard from other students that there was (and probably still is) rampant drug use in the sports teams and vaping is everywhere. Thank God I early graduated and got out of there in 2019.

This school has gone far left in politics. They have begun following the California play book. It was a great school. Such a shame.

Let me tell you about this school.....nnI was about 230 pounds my freshman year and every single day of my life, I was bullied. I walked in the halls with my head down, begging for these merciless kids to just leave me alone. I had food thrown at me, I've been pushed and shoved in the halls, and I was called fat, ugly, and whale my entire junior year. This school is the reason I got lap band surgery at 15 years of age. It wasnt until i started loosing weight that people finally started to let up on the name calling and tormenting.nnThe teachers always passed the football players just so they could play. They didnt care if they actually did the homework or not. One of my teachers had a kid who was a football player. How do you think he passed the classes?nnThere was news of at least 1 kid every month who killed themselves because of the kids at the school. I can remember 4 people off the top of my head that committed suicide because of the antics that go on here.nnAfter not being heard for the entirety of 4 years (freshman to senior), I gave up. I vowed never to live anywhere near this school just so my kids never had to endure that.nnI told the teachers I was sick and went down to the nurses office just to get away from the kids. I resorted to cutting myself once in my freshman year just for someone to pay attention to the people who are being tormented at this school.nnI now have 2 boys and am down to 150 pounds and all the people who ever made fun of me have really met karma, and shes been terrible on them.nnI would never EVER let my kids come here.
