This old cemetery sits adjacent to the Texas Rangers Museum and the Texas Tourist Welcome Center. Well manicured, with refreshing green grounds,it was a quiet restful stroll thru history. I hate to suggest a cemetery as a tourist destination, but when I find myself dropped into the midst of one with a free afternoon, well, I respectfully took my meandering through some incredible life stories, noting dates as far back as 1798 (no joke) and appreciating headstones and monuments the modern age no longer produces. There did seem to be some signs of vandalism here and there, but as this cemetery doesn't seem to have a locked fence and open access it is well preserved. I hope it stay that way. It is open with good visibility so I wasn't to afraid of being mugged, parking was easy, and there were other strollers enjoying the day as well.

This is marked in Google as the First Street Cemetery, but it's actually Hebrew Rest Cemetery that is adjacent to First street Cemetery. An edit was suggested.
