Problem solved. Thank you.nMy 83 y/o dad was referred by his PCP. The clinic called and scheduled the appointment asking him to bring (I spoke with the appointment scheduler myself) his insurance cards and to arrive 30 minutes early. I was given directions. We arrived 40 minutes early and completed the paperwork. At 1:10, I approached the desk and this is the conversation verbatim.nMe: Is my dad's appointment still at 1:00?nReceptionist: Well, they get back at 1 and put away their stuff.nMe: So, his appointment is not at 1.nReceptionist: Yes, it is.nMe: It's after 1.nReceptionist: They'll call him back when they can.nMe: I have to go to work today, what time do you think he'll get back?nReceptionist: Well, they take the existing patients first so it could be awhile. You do know it's a 2 hour appointment.nMe: No! How would I know that? I don't work here. I need to reschedule. I have to get to work today.nFor those who are not care givers of aging parents, we are NOT independently wealthy. I'm expected to be at my job. And no, my employer does not understand the continuously missed work for addressing health and well-being issues of my over 80 parents.nIf you are sloppy at communication and appointment scheduling, how can you instill confidence in your ability to care for my dad?nI understand if you need 2 hours, but wouldn't it make sense to inform the care giver or patient at the time of appointment scheduling?!nSadly, I called his PCP to inform her of what happened. I got chewed out due to severity of the wound. My dad lives in an assisted living because there were no beds available at the nursing home for Medicaid. I'm juggling a job, my health concerns and daily visits to his apartment to do skin assessments (which is how I discovered his wound). Over 90% of all nursing homes in the state of Texas are FOR-PROFIT and my dad does not have the $83,000/year to pay for it. Neither do I. It's your job to give the appropriate information when scheduling. It's not my responsibility to question whether or not you're doing it.

Hard to get an appointment, slow to send test results to your dr.
