Horrible billing department. Could not seem to file correctly on my insurance even with specific directions from insurance company. After several failed attempts time limit to file on insurance correctly timed out and balance due fell to me. Set up payment plan with hospital they asked for after they acknowledged it was their mistake. Never missed a single payment , was sent to collections!! Aweful customer service. Do not recommend agreeing to payment plan with hospital. Let them send to collections ( they will anyway) then set up payment plan with them, they will work with you without hitting your credit.

I was out of town when I needed to go to the hospital and it turned out I had appendicitis. I was admitted through the emergency room. I was in extreme pain, but the doctor there declined pain relief until my labs came back. Because some of the labs had to be sent outside of the hospital, I was informed it could take five hours. I was vomiting violently and vocalizing in pain. I was finally offered a “GI cocktail” which did help a lot. A staff member later informed me that this particular doctor refuses to provide pain relief when someone presents for major flare ups of things like fibromyalgia pain. If it’s anything that can’t be seen on imaging or a test, he just lets the patient suffer and doesn’t help them. As a chronic pain patient myself, the only way you can see my condition is on MRNeurography—an imaging they don’t have at this hospital. Besides that, things like fibromyalgia and other chronic pain flare ups are real and debilitating and denying patients pain relief is cruel. And I’m willing to bet patients still get a large bill even when they don’t get any treatment for their suffering. I would recommend that you avoid this emergency department if you need to seek help for flare ups of chronic pain. It is unfortunate that chronic pain patients are treated this way at this hospital. Furthermore, two nurses treated my veins like a dartboard trying to get in an IV. They attempted to use a vein on the wrist, which is normally contraindicated due to the large number of nerves and small arteries in the area and were unsuccessful. They finally got one in my hand. But then, I had to get a CT scan. They put contrast dye in the IV in the vein of my hand, which is also normally contraindicated because the dye is so harsh and damages these smaller veins. As expected, the dye was shockingly painful.nI was admitted overnight and the surgeon planned to do the surgery the following morning. It is my personal choice to have an advanced directive which states that I refuse chest compressions if my heart stops. CPR, in reality, has low success rates in adults and comes with many burdens, including the high possibility of brain damage. I discussed this with the surgeon who admitted that his own advance directive was pretty much the same (so he obviously has no moral objection to advance directives). It was then, while I was prepped and ready for surgery when I was informed of a unilateral policy of not honoring patients’ advanced directives during surgery. The Patient Bill of Rights, for this hospital, in plain English taken from their website clearly states that all patients have the right to formulate an advance directive and that it will be honored. I insisted that I had the right to choose which procedures I consented to and that it was unethical to tie the provision of a medically necessary procedure to the coerced consent of another procedure that I did not want. Many nursing staff stated they agreed with me, but it was still their policy to rescind during surgery. Some of them seemed to believe that this was a normal practice throughout Texas and happened everywhere. I assured them that it certainly was not and that I had had major surgery elsewhere with teams that readily honored my right to choose. They left and claimed to have called their legal department (on a Sunday) and said they were within their rights. They refused to document that they were refusing to honor my patient rights. They did however, offer to transport me to another hospital. This is not only medically unnecessary and risky in that it was delaying my care, but medically unnecessary transports are not covered by insurance and it would have been financially detrimental. This policy is against the ethical guidelines of ALL professional medical organizations in the United States. I left AMA and had my surgery at an ethical hospital, where they were shocked and in disbelief that a hospital would do that. If you value your autonomy and patient rights, I would never go to this hospital.

Great hospital, I received excellent care and the nursing staff was very attentive, which made my visit less stressful. I Also needed some equipment at home and they were very helpful after leaving the hospital with following through to get what I needed to make it easier at home.

Just left there. Very courteous employees. Especially Jeff. He was very patient and talked me through, what was for me, a difficult procedure. I probably wouldn't have went through with it if it wasn't for him. Thank you.

I had cataract surgery recently and received excellent care from the attentive and very competent staff. I never felt that anyone was rushing or that I was just another procedure as has been my experience at some surgical centers. I’ve also had major surgery at this hospital and found that experience equally as satisfactory, particularly the wonderful care I received in recovery!
