City of DeSoto

As of right now! I do not have and heated water flowing through my home to wash my body !!!!! this is not okay !!

My review is specifically regarding the Development Services Dept staff. About a few weeks back my husband and I drove an hour away to DeSoto to see how the area was in this city, and to also gather information regarding the regulations and standards of building a home. We then ended up driving to this office, entered the building and were directed to the Development Services Dept. However as my husband and I walked inside we sensed a not so friendly or pleasant attitude from the two women that were in the floor that day. We came in telling them that we were looking to just obtain information for building a home in the city. (Keep in mind, we are BRAND NEW in the process and do not have previous experience). However, the only wording we go back from these women was them asking us “what specific questions we had?” over and over again. We told them both that we came in to get information such as brochures, pamphlets or such, because we did not know what specific questions to ask! I also told them I thought it was funny that they kept asking us that, when in other cities/counties we were NOT asked what specific questions we had. Other cities/counties were so helpful in giving us a list of requirements such as permits, measurements, and fee schedules. We had even made it clear that were a bit naive in the subject. But, from the looks of it, it went through one ear and out the next. Since we were not getting anywhere with this staff nor were being treated nicely, we decided to just leave.nnI was under the impression these offices were also there to provide the public with help and information, NOT to make any process more difficult. I would say this was one of the worse customer service experiences we’ve had. Supper upsetting when you have hopes of building your OWN HOME and people bring your hopes down and make you feel brainless. Hope they fix their staff sooner than later.

Nice place. Beautiful scenery. I don't live here but it was enjoyable
