Murphy Learning Center - Math, English, Chess & Art

My daughter went to the Murphy Learning Center more than an year ago. I liked how the owner evaluated my daughter's mathematics skill. She gave me personal feedback in the beginning which I believe my daughter is still struggling with. I also liked the way an African American teacher teaching English Grammar to the third graders. The Center also has chess training.nnWhat I did not like about the Learning Center was that it was disorganized at that time. The parents who come there to enroll their children steal a lot of time from the owner, and the other kids don't get attention. That became an ongoing problem. Though they claim the students will get personal attention, I experienced a situation from another Mathematics teacher who did not care about what home work my daughter was supposed to do. Finally I had to pull her out.nnI don't know how the Center is run now, but I read in another review that the problems still exist. This center can be very successful in the Murphy/Richardson/Wylie area if the owner can change a few things. She needs (1) an accountant or accounting system to keep track of the payment (2) a scheduling system to keep track of the student and teacher schedules (3) schedule meetings with the new customers after regular hours so the existing students will get attention (4) reduce the fee for the after school program because the day cares charge only less than $100 per week for a child (5) Train the teachers to be one-on-one with the students.

This is an absolutely amazing educational institution to send your kids to. Every kid here is given special attention based on their specific needs. The owner Personally makes sure your child’s needs are met, and also makes sure parents are consistently made aware of how their child is doing and improving. Highly recommend!

Highly unorganized and chaotic place I have ever placed my son. Owner does not know how to run the business and gets frustrated. She can’t schedule class times and days and keeps on changing times and days. She runs the business on text messages. My son went there two months and she could not correct his last name. We met older reading teacher who had experience that was the reason we started but she left due to family issues. Keep your money and don’t start at this place. She needs to buy a computer and run the business via emails and bit steadier instead of sending 50 texts each week on different chat message groups. I want her (owner) to succeed but I am not sure she can be helped. Assignments and reading work for 6th grade level was a jock!!!nnOther reviews states they been working with this place for 5 years... well 2 years go that lot had nothing but dirt :)nn========nUpdate on 9/16n==========nOwner called many times to pressure me to change this review or take it down. When I refused she said she will post non payment termination like she said below. All lies.nnContact me for all text messages and changes she did for the class days and times. I got full proof that none of them were to collect money and all of them were about changes. Full payments were sent on every time said payment was due by sending text :)nnJune...? My son did not go there in June. We started in July. She herself said he attended in July and August when he attended. This is exactly what I mean that she can't handle anything....nnI can't believe dicey business practice she is doing. Instead of learning and improving she took this route. Surviving in business is to improve customer service and learn from each issue..not threaten when someone give you bad review.nnI am making excuses to not pay? When I already paid in full? I have not seen this one before :)

Excellent curriculum exceedingly prepares a child for their assignments. I have definitely seen a great improvement in all the students academic skills, and most importantly, their desire to learn more has greatly improved. Highly Recommend all the parents to send their child to this place!

Murphy learning has been a big blessing for me. Ms. Varsha works with you just like she is your family. The classes have surely helped my son a lot. He really looks forward to them. Additional value is her timely suggestions on useful web resources/ things we could do that can benefit my son based on his skillsets and capacity. I have recommended this institute to all my friends. If you have any doubts or need a suggestion, the owner will give you all her attention to make sure your concerns are addressed. A female owned business and being managed so well. I am all praises for her efforts and hard work. Commendable!
