I’ve been going to Dr. Mittan for close to 3 years now. She’s been so helpful throughout this time as I have struggled to manage my hypothyroidism and other health issues (weight gain, hormone imbalances, etc,) that have stemmed from this. She is extremely competent and intelligent, but also very kind. Unlike other doctors I have been to, she doesn’t speak down to me or try to shove a million prescriptions down my throat. She takes the time at each appointment to THOROUGHLY explain treatment options and/or prescriptions. She also listens to my own input and concerns, and answers all of my questions (even the crazy ones that come from me anxiously Googling my symptomsud83dude02). This was extremely helpful in the beginning as I was unsure what was wrong with me and it can also be hard to find the perfect fit when treating thyroid issues- AKA the right dosage and brand of thyroid medicine. She changed her office workers not long after I started going to her, and because of this, she has been available whenever I need to call about any unusual symptoms or worries- she also made sure to monitor me every time we changed the dosage or brand before finding the right “fit”. The current front desk worker is super nice as well- she always has paperwork ready and returns calls quickly if she happens to miss one of mine. Because of her, communication has greatly improved and even if there is a mix up, I’m inclined to be patient as it’s rare and there haven’t been any rude encounters. In addition to this, Dr. Mittan has been extremely attentive with any other health problems that have stemmed from my hypothyroidism. Instead of beating around the bush or simply sympathizing with me, she was extremely honest and blunt about how these problems could become more severe, and how I needed to change certain areas in my own life to fix them. As someone else mentioned in a review from a while back, I appreciate this type of approach with my doctor. I want someone to give me the facts and not sugar coat things, because otherwise I’m unable to know the severity of the issue or I only ignore it and don’t change. She’s never been rude or mean or “judgemental” as I’m sure some people may worry about when seeking out a healthcare provider, but she will be candid and she will straight up tell you what the problem is and if you need to fix it on your own end. To wrap up my review, I would definitely recommend seeing Dr. Mittan if you need someone to treat your thyroid issues (this is my specific diagnosis- I don’t want to speak about any other health issues as I can only review from my own experience from my own health issue). It’s been so great to have a doctor who is willing to work with me and monitor my health to help me find a solution to combat these issues. Really glad someone had recommended seeing her because there were things I thought I would have to deal with for the rest of my life, but she’s helped me find answers and get to the root of my symptoms when I just accepted that I was born with those issues and had to just live with them. She also gave me information and different options to fix them or treat them so they don’t hinder my everyday life. Anyway, if you need someone to treat your thyroid in B/CS, Dr. Mittan is great and has really helped me!

Incredibly difficult to get ahold of, unprofessional, and just not a good option.

Dr. Mittan is an excellent doctor. She is very thorough and does not rush through the appointment. She spends a great deal of time with you and explains everything in a easy-to-understand manner.

Brought her my symptoms and bloodwork and watched her do a Google search to give me a diagnosis. Cash only and difficult to communicate with. I left feeling disappointed and without understanding of the condition (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia) which it turns out I don't have. Put me on a steroid and did not provide adequate information.

EDIT: **Another reviewer here implied that I “don’t know how to follow directions.” I have a Master’s in IT and I’m a tech writer for a living, I’m fairly certain I know how to do something as basic as follow directions. My situation occurred after calling and leaving voicemails for months with no returned calls, I assure you. If the office is doing better now, it is most likely because they finally decided to shape up after the medical board investigated them per the complaint I filed. And based on the review they wrote, it sounds quite doctored and not very genuine, as if someone is trying to make the office look better. Just my two cents as someone that assesses written word for a living**nnI liked Dr. Mittan when I saw her but her staff is awful about returning phone calls and impossible to get a hold of.nnI’ve been desperately trying to find a new endocrinologist since I’ve moved out of College Station, but I need a referral, and I can’t get that because this office never answers the phone or calls me back when I leave voicemails! It is beyond frustrating trying to get treatment for my PCOS, but can’t! This office is quite literally preventing me from getting the treatment I desperately need.nnI basically gave up and will be contacting my old endocrinologist Dr. Crumpler instead, just so I can get a damn referral. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. I am even contemplating reporting this office to the medical board for negligence and refusal to answer. You cannot just IGNORE your patients and expect there to be no consequences.
