Bexar appraisal doesn’t want to be viewed as an entity that directly contributes to pushing older and working class people out of their homes but they need to accept this truth. These people are personally responsible for the reason why homes in San Antonio are no longer affordable. What most people don’t realize is that once you purchase your home, these “honest” folks at Bexar appraisal will exponentially increase your valuation until your taxes are so high that you have to move out of the city completely. You’re home could be completely void of any habitable space but as long as a neighbor’s house sells for double it’s value then your valuation goes up by nearly the same amount. Bexar appraisal really has no clue what your house is worth in reality. They can only give an arbitrary valuation based on what’s selling in the area. No one will admit blame for this obvious issue but the blame should be directed at Bexar appraisal and it’s leadership. Please protest your taxes. This is all that can be done right now to slow the burn. Apparently even a pandemic and power grid catastrophe isn’t enough to get these people off of your back.

Today I went to take care of some property taxes and I was helped by one of the most professional and knowledgeable individuals in their respective field, that I have ever had the privilege of dealing with. I had a fantastic experience with BCAD. I would personally like to thank Mrs. Nancy Shaw for all of her help! I had numerous questions (probably annoying), but she took the time to answer them all and explain how things would work for me going forward. Hang in there SA, remember we all have things going on and kindness goes a long way!
