I have been a patient of Dr. Hurme for about 10 years now. I am still a patient and am very pleased with his course of treatment over the years. My personal case has lasted a long time because in the beginning I could not function. I would wake up with bad headaches that would eventually lead to migraines and I had jaw pain and could barely open my mouth. I was in so much pain I ended up in the ER thinking I had a tumor or something of that nature to be causing my pain. The ER doctors did a CT scan and basically told me nothing was wrong and it was all in my head and offered pain meds. I tried the pain meds but they made me sick and groggy and it was no way to live so finally I did research of my symptoms and I came across Dr. Hurme's website. I figured what could it hurt to call for a consultation appointment. It was the best decision I ever made! From day 1 Dr. Hurme and his entire staff were so kind and he actually listened to my story, my symptoms and offered me hope. Yes it has taken many years but my case was unique. I have gone thru many day/night guards and slowly my jaw/teeth are aligning to the correct position. I preferred Dr. Hurme's treatment over surgery because surgery would not resolve my issues with my tongue and the muscles along my jaw/face. I needed to practice strengthening my muscles to be able to get to a point where my pain level has diminished to nearly 0. Depending on which insurance you have will determine if the cost will be covered but if not then Dr. Hurme's staff will work with you to set up a financial plan that is affordable. All in all I am so pleased with my treatment over the years and would highly recommend Dr. Hurme to anyone having TMJ or migraine issues!

I was fortunate enough to be referred a year and half ago to Dr. Hurme. I had been struggling with facial pain, headaches, shoulder and upper back pain for many years.nPrior to meeting Dr. Hurme, I had tried a lot of different DDS who tried various and expensive treatments that did NOT work. I was in so much pain I was considering surgery. Thankfully I found Dr. Hurme. I no longer have headaches or facial pain. Much of the shoulder and arm pain is less and getting better. I can sleep at night now without pain or sleeping medicine.

Dr. Hurme is very knowledgeable about his specialty and spends a lot of time explaining to his patients how and why about the body. While many medical professionals rush you, he makes sure you understand and addresses your concerns. I had thought TMJ pain was just something I'd have to manage, but now I know I can be fixed. I've started treatment and my pain has diminished and everything has gotten better. In addition, he and his staff were miracle workers after my daughter's dentist dislocated her jaw while filling cavities...with the use of laser and acupuncture, and an incredible bedside manner that made her feel calm and safe, they spent many hours to help her and eventually slid her jaw back in place. I am impressed with their continued learning and spreading their information to others as well as their network of other professionals to work together to help the entire patient's health and body.

About 11-12 years ago, I began having occasional pain in the back of my neck, along with/or all around my head, including my face. The pains worsened and became more frequent over the next 2 years until they were totally debilitating. Accompaning the pain, were flu-like symptoms of chills, weakness and nausea. The facial pain felt like a terrible sinus infection. Overall, I could not function for hours until pain medication barely relieved an episode. I had heard about TMJ issues over the years and wondered if this was causing my pain. But when asking my general dentist about TMJ, the idea was basically shot down. Dr. Hurme is one of the nicest medical/dental professionals I've ever visited. His quiet, but very friendly, demeanor has an excellent calming affect while he expertly attends to my needs. From the first fitting of a mouth apparatus, my pain immediately was lessened in severity and frequency. I have also been taught in the clinic numerous ways in strengthening my neck muscles. As my jaws have continued the journey through corrective realignment over the past eight years, Dr. Hurme has remained the same: kind, encouraging and always expertly prepared to attend to my next stage of the process.nIf I'd not received his help 8 years ago, I know I would be totally dysfunctional at this point. Instead, at the age of 68, I have a very busy and active, healthy life. Between the hidden mouth apparatus pieces I wear day and night and the neck muscle exercises I do, my occasional and milder headaches are quite manageable.
