Incredibly important. Online says it takes 2 to 3 hours but we couldn't finish and will have to come back. Almost need to take a full day or split it. Also, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to take pictures. So much info. One of the most well done museums I've ever visited (and I've gone to a lot!). Interactive exhibit along with the actual rooms Dr King was staying in. Also, the gift shop was fantastic which I was not expecting! May be hard to take younger children, you'd have to skip most of it due to the content/amount to read. We will be back to finish the experience.

A must see. Hard to take it all in in one visit with the life cause and work of such an extraordinary man. We were visiting from Texas and with the powerful movement happening around us wanted our children to have the opportunity to stand on this hallowed ground which deeply impacted them much more than just stories in their history books. Seeing video and bus recreations and classrooms and so many other strong visuals was just the kind of jolt their young incoming 3rd and 4th grade minds needed. For my husband and it was just a treasure of information and details beyond the history books. Truly don't leave Memphis without spending at least a few hours here.

I can go on & on about how wonderful this museum is. I'm telling any and everybody this is a must see in person. So much information and the employees were all very nice. I was so moved to be able to view and take pictures of the last place Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was before his untimely death. But it don't stop there the other exhibits were absolutely awesome 22 different rooms and the knowledge it's just blew my mind. It's a must see please take my word on it.

First I would like to thank Melissa for being so kind to taking my call. I was pleasantly surprised at all the history and artifacts the museum had. I highly recommend visiting the Civil Rights Museum. ALL THE WORKERS WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL. THANKS AGAIN MELISSA YOU ARE A GODSEND!

A most powerful and enlightening experience. I could feel the presence of the past. I was on the verge of tears. The gift shop was nice. I do want to go again with a different set of friends to share history. Great time. Recommended.
