This review is NOT about the medical staff at Prisma...they have always taken excellent care of my entire family...and we are extremely grateful for them. We also thank them for risking themselves to care for us all. We will continue to seek care from them as long as we are allowed. This review is concerning a few personal in the billing department. Many of whom are kind and helpful...then, you have these ones...who leave a bad taste for everyone. My husband was treated for a work related accident at the Parkridge location...he fully explained to the staff that it was work related... after relaying this information to them multiple times...they charged our personal insurance. Which...upon finding out it was a work related accident...stated that we have Prisma reverse the filing...they refused and one staff member rudely told me to just pay the full amount... including the part that the insurance paid...and they would reimburse the insurance if they asked...our insurance is telling us to request that Prisma reverse it... Prisma, even after informing them... keeps trying to charge my husband...when the insurance company assigned an adjuster...Prisma sent us a letter threatening us, stating that they would contact an attorney or take other measures against us. His accident was just in November of 2020...we didn't receive a bill from them for some time...so, this has been on the table just a short amount of time...and they are threatening to sue. I am writing this because after trying to work with them for months...and never being anything but respectful, we were informed not to call again on this matter...that was . months ago...how can you work with people like this. This is the reason my husband didn't give his personal insurance information at the emergency room...and explicitly told them not to charge it...he was afraid they would anyway. Then they did charge it... without his consent. Maybe we should contact an attorney as well. We just received the letter yesterday on March 27, 2021...the timing is suspect...we are wondering if the adjuster contacted them. Just really sad...we, like many, have struggled financially during this crisis...but, always managed to pay our bills, including the ones to Prisma...to threaten to take what little we have left over their mistake...or to punish us because we are trying to do the right thing. My husband's employer was willing to pay the full amount...we had provided that information to them many times... before they billed our insurance. Just so sad.

Lack of communication and they want you to be there at a specific time and still make you wait 3 hours or more.

Staff were all wonderful and quite attentive. I was here a total of 14 days. I was cleaned daily and on demand. When my meals didn’t show up like they were supposed staff stepped in on my befall. All the female doctors were amazing. Some of the male staff members were ok but the quality between the genders is very large.

I was not a patient but the staff at this hospital really need to work on their communication skills! My husband was scheduled to be at outpatient surgery at 10 am it wasn’t till around 2 pm that we were informed that the doctor was running behind schedule due to complications with an earlier surgery. I asked on multiple occasions about when my husband would be taken back to surgery and all I got was an “I don’t know, maybe an hour or two.” Fast forward to 5pm they took him back for surgery and at 6pm the doctor came out and told me he was in recovery and I could go back to be with him shortly. 8pm rolls around and I hadn’t heard anything about my husband or his condition since they came to get his clothes and tell me he was being discharged at 7 pm, so I grabbed someone that was leaving to go home and asked for their help. Just as she was trying to help me they were wheeling him out to go home. I was not notified or anything that he had been discharged and was ready to go home. Better communication between the hospital staff and family of patients is a must!

Treated almost a year ago for gran mal seizure. Recieved decent care. However, billing turned over to collections after calling NUMEROUS times with appropriate demographics and insurance info (brought in by EMS). Over $6000 bill will COMPLETELY be covered by primary and secondary insurance but they find it easier to turn over to collections instead of submitting a bill to Medicare. Ridiculous!
