Laurens Family Medicine – Gray Court

So I thought I had found the doctor of my dreams his nurse(Lisa) is absolutely amazing unfortunately I was unable to speak with her about the situation. I need to visit Dr. Kaiser today due to an ankle issue. So I called to make an appointment, he’s not at his normal office in Laurens. So I have to make the appointment at the Gray Court location. I made the appointment at 10:30 realizing that I had made the appointment to early I called back to reschedule. While rescheduling this appointment I coughed. Not a cough I can’t catch my breath I’m dying a cough. A basic cough. (I am a ex smoker, I have allergies) I was then informed by the nurse that I would have to have a virtual appointment because I coughed and “when you’re coughing there’s no way to tell if you don’t have Covid”. I then said how will he view my ankle virtually? While I was offered a Covid test thank you but no thank you I don’t need one. My tone is course and the nurse didn’t like it, or what I had to say, while I was never rude or disrespectful to her she wanted to cut the conversation off. I said to her I am a former smoker I also have allergies every spring. She then put me on hold and another nurse came on the line to try to explain to me why my cough disqualified me for service none of their answers were satisfactory I asked her... do you not take temperatures in your office?? I go through symptoms check every time I walk into my job. Needless to say they refuse to see me for a cough! A cough ! Some thing we all do and did years before Covid but now on the sound of your cough can disqualify you for service without a Covid test . I have moved in my business to a new doctors office. Who by the way found what happened very odd.

Hope the Prisma Health system can expand and open new and more specialist and offices in the Gray Court Area.
