Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe

They have wonderful customer service, they are timely, and their book packaging is nicely done. Would buy from them again. The book I ordered arrived without damage and in the time frame they promised.

So supportive of local authors . A real community atmosphere. Real appreciate all you are doing to assist in stopping the spread of covid. Great book collections. Clean, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere

I've been in love with this independent bookstore since I was a teenager. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and well read. Everything about Malaprop's makes me happy, from their book selection to their bathrooms. It's my favorite downtown destination.

We are tourists and wanted to buy some books. Apparently if your not a NC Resident you can’t enter. The ironic thing is in the front of the store they have a poster that reads “ we welcome all countries of origin”. isn’t this segregation? Haha

We used to come here every time we visited Asheville. Never again. Apparently if you live right across the border in SC you can’t enter their store. It clearly states on the door that you can only come in if you are a NC resident. I asked why and she said “this is why”. I was confused and I said “because Im from SC and want to support a local bookstore by coming in and buying books?” She answered “yes”. So because I’m from SC ... isn’t that discrimination? My wife and I are big readers and we go to every bookstore we find. And we always buy a book. My wife won’t even buy books from Amazon. Good luck surviving without support from your neighbors.
