I attended undergrad and some upper level marine biology courses here. Their summer and other seasonal field courses are absolutely the best way to learn through exploring and doing hands on research. Something should be said of the unique, diverse and dynamic environment that not only traverses ecosystems of all water salinities, but also serves as the setting of major US Civil War historical sites, US Civil Rights movement and other monuments of early American history. Please request more information directly from the various Visitor Center in the region.

Wonderful research laboratory. The Gulf Coast Research Lab has been an amazing part of the Ocean Springs community. They have summer programs for both graduate/undergraduate and for children as well to show them the wonders of the marine environment.

This place makes me feel like Charles Darwin! I always come here with a group of college students for a Coastal Ecology class. We fish and seine in the Gulf all day long, and we catch a plethora of strange creatures. So much fun!

It was amazing there was so much stuff you can't stay for just one day to see it all and the random events that happen it was nice to stumble on to them

I am going to view this through the lens of a student who had to go on a field trip that included this university. The sleeping conditions were pretty bad. We were sleeping on those cheap thin cotton mattresses which would have been all good and dandy if they had told us to bring just anything to help us sleep. I only heard one person in my group of roughly 100 people. They didn't even have any blankets for us, but they still had the air down to 50 degrees. The showers were a little nasty, but they were good enough for a university standard. One of the vending machines didn't even accept cash. I had to borrow someone's credit card for it. The food was all right, but the breakfast was rather bland. Everything else was ok though.
