The American Hotel Atlanta Downtown - a DoubleTree by Hilton

My first “complaint” would be the fact that when we checked into our room we discovered that we had two full-size beds instead of one king size. now the reason why I say “complaint” is because it could have just been a misunderstanding because I honestly don’t remember discussing the type of beds with the booking agent so it could’ve just been an assumption on her part when booking the hotel but I guess I just automatically assume king size but I definitely could have made sure. Second complaint could be the hugest one as to why I am giving this a one star which is there was no hot water at all whatsoever so imagine wanting to take a shower before going to sleep. if you are like me I love to be clean before I lay in any type of bed so imagine having to take a cold wash up in the sink because the hot water did not work at all whatsoever. We called the front desk and they said oh we are sorry about that we are having some issues it should be fixed in the morning. They did however give us back $83 but it was very disappointing to not be able to take a hot fresh shower before laying down and basically having to take a cold wash up in the sink. Another thing is when we were booking the hotel we were told that we would have the option for a grab and go breakfast well low and behold there was no grab and go breakfast that was available. we were basically lied to. Next. Not really sure if this was an issue on our end or not but just kind of wanted to mentioned our clock was that 10 minutes behind. We could’ve done it while we were trying to set the alarm clock but if in fact they have the housekeeper set the time clocks 10 minutes behind so that you can get charged a late fee for checking out late then I think that I should mention that just to be on the safe side.

Loved the look of hotel gave me a 50's feelnRetro vibe!!! Room clean and beautiful. I like to go up elevator you have to use your key for it to go to your floor. But wont say again lol ill be damn if paying 45 dollars a night for parking.

Originally I left a a 1 star due to heavy demand on valet parking. After finally getting through, the valet guy was swapped, but he was really doing his job and working his butt off so I definitely applaud him. The check in host was awesome along with the female host. They do respond back if you communicate through message. The digital key does not work for the room but does for the elevator. My room was GREAT. I would stay again. Thank you for staying positive through all of the madness. Great customer service goes a long way with me. Happy New Years.

We loved our stay the first night so we stayed another night . The next night was great other than the pool action. People not watching there kids. The kids were tearing everything up. And the grown people smoking weed at the pool and on the balconies. But other than that it was a good stay.

After reading the reviews I thought it would just be a somewhat disappointing stay. However from valet, to front desk, and in passing with room service everyone acknowledged us in a kind and professional manner. We learned a fun fact from guest services that this hotel is the first integrated hotel in Atlanta. It was nice to step back in a time I could not have seen with my own eyes. Although its an older hotel the room service staff did a great job cleaning and sanitizing our rooms. The bartender between 4-9 pm made me a great Long Beach cocktail as well. We stayed in room 841(King) and the balcony view of Atlanta was nice. So the Kemps would like to say thank you for making our anniversary evening pleasant with your hard work and efforts during these times of uncertainty and the pandemic.
