My friend told me to visit here since she knows that I love books, and this one didn’t disappoint. I love reading in this place. It is a perfect place for reading.

It is so dirty. Most of the employees are quite surly. (I would be too if I had to be stuck there all day, too.) The collections are lacking. Really most of the floors are a homeless shelter in an ugly post apocalyptic setting. (This has to be a Portman creation!) It is too bad there are some real treasures of Atlanta history, like Margaret Mitchell's typewriter, which have been entrusted to the library; since, they are not being cared for or treasured. The exception is the lovely little haven in the basement, where the children's collection is housed. It is bright and cheery and has a lot of volumes! The librarian that rules the roost down there is most competent helpful and professional.

The second floor is nothing but a daycare for the hapless, homeless, and mentally unstable individuals. And you have to be very careful while using the places reserved for the laptop users. Walk with enough paper towels to thoroughly clean down the stools and the desk areas you'll be utilizing (with solvent, or plain water at least), or you will start itching, smelling and even pick up critters (lice, bed bugs, and other parasites) hitching a ride on your clothes, and bags. The security isn't too pleasant either, as they tend to treat everyone as undesirable and homeless. I guess you cannot blame them as they work in that negative environment daily, and the rest of the staff's attitude and helpfulness are quite mixed.
