I confirmed this morning from another dentist through x-ray analysis that I have PERMANENT NERVE DAMAGE from a simple cavity filling from Dr Patel at Great Expressions Dental. Details below.nnI went into Great Expressions Dental when my job's insurance changed. I went in for 2 routine cleanings and everything was fine. Dr Patel noticed a small chipped cavity and re-filled it...In doing so, she drilled too deep to the point where it was now touching my nerve. I thought the sensitivity would subside after the first month or so. I complained to their office when they followed up and no action was taken from their end. Six months have passed and I have not been able to eat on that tooth and cannot expose it to hot/cold without experiencing sharp pain. Now, the pain is constant and I have to be on Ibuprofen back to back.nnI got new insurance and got x-rays this morning to check out the pain (image attached). Please look at the x-ray I had taken this morning from my phone (there are time/date stamps in the photo -- this is not from google). I will explain how to read it. The nerves in the teeth are the black lines. In all of my other teeth, there is significant space between the nerves (black lines) and cavities (white tops). However... the nerve in the tooth that is circled is TOUCHING the cavity (the white part on top) that Dr Patel drilled. She did not inform me before touching up this cavity that it was close to a nerve and that nerve damage was a risk (something my other dentist told me should be discussed up front).nnDr Patel was negligent to my nerves (even after taking x-rays) and as a result, gave me a botched cavity that caused irreversible nerve damage. As a result, I now have to get a root canal to remove the nerve, as well as a crown (resulting in about $3000 with everything included). I am under the profound suspicion that this was malicious medical malpractice. I'm appalled. Regretful. And deeply furious.
