I attended this congregation for my cousin's wedding. I am not a Roman Catholic, as I believe Holy Scripture to have theological disagreements with that communion. However, I was quite impressed with the wedding service in very many ways. The music was wonderful. The sermon was well prepared and very scripturally based. My primary concern was that the sermon stopped short of including some very necessary gospel comfort and encouragement as the basis for all marriages, to point us hearers to Christ as the sole source of our life and works.

St. Mary’s is so dear to my heart. My parents Rhea (Gadow) and Leonard Dricken were married there in 1949. My husband John and I were married there in 1995, as were some of my siblings. Our 3 girls all went to St.Marys school, as did I did and all 5 of my siblings. I remember how the church looked before it got “hacked apart” in the 70’s when it was in vogue to “modernize “ interiors. Even back then, as a teenager, I remember thinking: “What a mistake “. And that beautiful alter was gone! It was similar to Holy Angels. Craftsmanship that truly can’t be duplicated. But, now? Close! What a wonderful job the renovation is. Attention to detail, reverence for the Holy. And, although our 3 Catholic parishes are all wonderful in West Bend, I think St Mary’s is just the most beautiful now. It reminds me of the churches in Europe. It is large enough parish to not become stagnant, yet small enough to be cozy and welcoming. Diane

St. Mary's in Barton (West Bend) is a beautiful church inside and out. The people are welcoming and engaging. All are welcome here and don't let the summer heat deter you because St. Mary's is now an air conditioned parish .
