I grew up going to this library, but things have really changed. I moved back to Roy in 2004. In the last 8 years I have been to this library less than 8 times. I actually live about a mile away from the Southwest Branch, but I drive to Davis County instead. The demand for new books has risen, but the availability has gone down. I can almost always find what I am looking for in Davis, and rarely in Weber. My biggest gripe about Weber County, is that they seem to be in the library business to make money first, and lend books second. Weber County follows policy to the letter. If you want to finish a book and need another day or two, tough luck. I borrowed 2 DVD's from Weber County, and the librarian told me the wrong day to return them. I returned them on the day that I was told and was charged $1.00 per day late fee. When I spoke to someone about it she said that even though they told me the wrong day, it is my responsibility to know their policies. Ridiculus. Another thing that Davis excels in is email reminders letting you know when a book is due. All that Weber does is send you a nasty letter threatening to ruin your credit. In Weber if you are one day late, you get a late fee. In Davis you get a 7 day grace period. My last gripe is the phone system in Weber. It is all answered by a central location. I tried calling for 20 minutes straight today, during their posted business hours, and no one answered. Instead, the phone told me to call back between 10 am and 9 pm. It is after 10 am.
