Familia Dental

The appointments were filled up but I needed to be seen urgently, and it’s the closest place to my house that accepts my insurance. So, I went in and got set up to get in if anyone cancelled. Despite the fact that there were NO cancellations that morning, the dentist made time to see me at the beginning of his lunch break. Everyone I spoke to was very polite! Great customer service.

I had the best experience here. I’m pretty nervous to get dental work done so I wasn’t looking forward to having a filling done. When I realized my iPhone doesn’t have a plug in for headphones the hygienist borrowed me her adaptor. She was so nice and made me feel really comfortable there. The Dentist was extremely thorough and quick...I was shocked when she finished. I had no pain during the procedure and she was kind and comforting. I am very pleased.

I was very happy with my experience here. The staff was very kind. When I was taken back, the dentist was so sweet. Very glad I came here. I'm not even worried about my upcoming procedure. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Familia Dental is fine. It’s not great, it’s by no means excellent. We do not have employer based health insurance and our children currently qualify for BadgerCare— which thankfully Familia Dental accepts. One of the only near Jefferson County. The problem is, they dentist isn’t great with kids. Dr. Meta is a very nice man, but his general chair side manner with kids isn’t naturally great. I do give him credit for his attempts, it’s just that he very much does not exude a calming presence. They do not provide any services that make dental work less traumatic for children. There are no options for nitrous, twilight, what have you. Minor tooth extractions proved to be quite traumatic and have greatly affected my kid’s comfort level with dentistry in general now. It was a simplencase of baby teeth unwilling to come out. Also, he made us wait a year with a “shark teeth” situation and now one kid will most definitely need orthodontic work because he wanted to “wait and see.” They’re now forever traumatized by having pliers and screwdriver type tools waved in their faces while fully awake. There were no attempts to come from a different angle or offer any sensitivity to the situation. This isn’t ok and we have no other options. Madison Children’s Dental only takes referrals under five. Apparently the state of Wisconsin doesn’t care about offering humane treatment to children who don’t have parents that can obtain private insurance. This is not Familia’s fault. I’m grateful that they take our insurance. But, I’m just sad with lack of ability to offer a wider range of kinder services for a more positive experience. Some of the hygienist staff is phenomenal and I hope Familia Dental fully appreciates that they’re carrying this operation. We basically have no choice to come back, but the hygienist staff makes that thought at least bearable.
