Schmidtke Orthodontics

My daughter started treatment with a different orthodontist in a different city. The treatment was well underway, and had been very successful in resolving my daughter's issues so far. She had 7 months left in her treatment when we moved to the Hortonville/Appleton area. I called Dr. Schmidtke's office and told them I was moving to the area and that my daughter needed to finish out her treatment. They scheduled her appointment, and got all the records and info from my daughter's previous orthodontist.nAt the appointment with Dr. Schmidtke, he gave me a quote of $5,200 out of my pocket. It seems that he was not interested in finishing my daughter's treatment, but rather, was only interested in starting all over, adding a few additional years onto my daughter's treatment. My insurance had already paid their portion of the treatment, so who in their right might would start all over, this time paying 100% out of pocket?nAnd what kind of doctor puts a child through this all over again--contraptions in the mouth, special diets....all when she only had 7 months left? He bad-mouthed the previous doctor, and said he was better. Yes, he actually said that. However, I can assure you that the treatment my daughter had prior to seeing Dr. Schmidtke was top-notch. In fact, Miss America 2012 received her orthodontic treatment at the same place my daughter received hers.nI will be looking for someone with some ethics, not someone who wants to put a child through more painful treatment while taking advantage of the parent's pocket book, all so he can play more golf and take more trips.nOh, and to top it all off, they gave both of my kids a coupon for a free ice cream cone. I guess cavities are ok as long those cavities are nice and straight.
