Washing Well

When I first arrived in West Allis, WI in Aug. 2019, the Washing Well at 8630 W. National Avenue has been my first choice, until I started getting negative reactions to the black mold in the machines. I had found a better laundromat (Suds Your Duds, 69th & Beloit), but it takes longer to reach by public transit. Fast forward to Sept. 2020, when for the second time in a row I couldn’t reach SYDs due to transit issues and chose to go to Washing Well instead.nnThe machines are cleaner and the two elderly gentlemen who clean the laundromat in the early morning are very nice. However, this location suffers from the following:nn*Out of the three laundromats between 69th & Beloit and 87th and National (the third is another and much worse Washing Well on 85th & Greenfield), the National Avenue location has change machines that are out of order most of the time. On more than one occasion I’ve had to go elsewhere to do laundry because of this.nn*Costs. Washers start at $2.75-3.00 per cycle. Dryers are $1.50 for thirty minutes.nn*Refreshment machines contain expired food and drinks.nn*aging, malfunctioning machines (today one of the machines I used didn’t spin and the machine was full of water when the cycle was finishednn*warped seals on several dryers - one machine that I was going to use wouldn’t close at all, and there were times that the dryers would stop because the doors would pop open on occasion. This is another reason why laundry should not be left attended.nn*No phone number to contact the manager in case of problems. There are a large number of surveillance cameras, however.nnTo summarize, if you can make the trip, try to go to Suds Your Duds on 69th & Beloit instead. The machines there are in much better shape (though the dryers have some wear and tear on them) and use of the washers start at $1.75 with dryers at $0.25 for every eight minutes. Washing Well is cleaner than it used to be, but looks are literally deceiving.nnJames W.nWest Allis, WI

Washers take money but don't start. Washers will wash but will not drain leaving you to spend double to dry. Don't come here.

Shame on me for using this place.... I dropped a bunch of money to wash winter jackets, I came back an hour later and all our things had been stolen!! Police were called and a report made. Nothing like losing $300+ in winter jackets when it's 20 degrees out... Ohh and Merry Christmas. Doubt I will ever hear anything... ;(

I found another place nearby that charges the same amount but the washers can fit way larger loads. I recommend the owner close up shop, update and really fix most of the machines and dryers, consider dedicating a small section for a children's play area and children's book shelf stocked with books for toddlers and chapter books for our older kids....then I can come back

Never again after today and what a shame as its right around the corner from my house. I counted at least a dozen machines out of order, clothes come out of some machines still wringing wet and God knows if their even clean. Owner posts no phone number to reach anyone and obviously doesnt give a darn about taking care of his equipment. Time to find a new laundry!!!
