I wish I could give more stars. Other jewelers said my pearls had to be re-strung but they are individually knotted so I didn’t want that. They fixed them for a very reasonable price and because I’m disabled and use the bus, they even brought them to me. They are my jewelers forever! Thank you NORTHWOODS!

In May my mom and I were going through some of her jewelry. I found a ring that my dad and I picked out for her for Christmas. It was her birthstone. There was also another piece of jewelry that had my birthstone in it. So I decided to have the 2 stones put into a ring. They were different sizes so I wanted them staggered with diamonds so the size difference was not so noticeable. I took her a ring I had. I just wanted the mount removed and a new mount put on it with the stones I brought. There were diamonds in the mount I was having removed so she had the stones for that also. In June I stopped in to see how things were going. She said it would be very easy to do. After calling in with her once or twice a month I decided to stop in and she showed me what she had planned. She had hearts cut out on the sides and I really didn’t care for the way it looked, so she said she would just cut out the sides because a solid side would not look good. We made a drawing of how the stone would be staggered. After calling numerous times I finally got my ring on DECEMBER 23rd. Remember I took her the stones, and the ring to mount them on. She said she would just trade the current gold in the mount for the new mount. She also had the gold from the original ring my dad and I bought. She said she would purchase that gold. The ring was nothing like what we discussed. The stones were not staggered and the diamonds are not put in even. The sides were solid. Here is the best part. She charged me almost $1300 for the ring that just needed the mount switched and I decided to have it white gold plated, which she said would be $85. Now that I have it home I can see a little of the yellow gold on one side. I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Maybe in the future I will take it somewhere that will make it like I wanted..

I have been purchasing custom and off the shelf jewelry at this store for 10 years. The prices are fair, the designs are unique and the service after the sale is first rate. I had a custom piece made for Christmas 2018 which was finished later than expected, but still in time for Christmas. Although the owner did not tell me, I learned the delay was caused by a very serious health emergency in the owner's family. The two negative reviewers should have done a little research and exercised some compassion before posting.

Wow, my experience at Northwoods Goldsmith has exceeded my expectations! Back in February, my fiance and I stumbled upon her shop on Saturday afternoon to discuss rings. We were getting married soon and were looking to talk to her about options. Mary Beth immediately gave us all of her attention and showed us many different varieties to suit our needs. I wanted something unique and homemade with a turquoise stone, but I didn’t know much more. My fiance wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted yet either, so she opened books to give us ideas. It was a heartwarming experience because we discussed many different options, but Mary Beth was never pushy nor tried to lean us any way in our decision making process. Because we expressed interest in both having one-of-a-kind rings, she actually introduced us to the idea of using wax. She gave us some wax that we could use to make our own unique band that could be put in a mold. Amazingly, she was just happily sharing ideas that fit our personalities spot on. We left feeling awestruck--we had no idea that her shop existed in downtown Wausau. We were thrilled to have learned so much information that day because Mary Beth was overjoyed to share her knowledge on the subject. We decided to think about her ideas and time passed.nnWe actually didn’t go back to her shop until we were married. My fiance and I got married without rings, which suited us at the time. We had not prioritized rings in our process of moving away from Wausau, so I waited until mid-May to reach out to Mary Beth again. Right away when I said my name, Mary Beth remembered us and was incredibly happy to have heard from me! I said that we wanted to come back and discuss rings, but we were running out of time. She shared that she was leaving on vacation soon. When we returned to her shop together, she did everything in her power to make it all work with OUR schedule as we were leaving at the end of May! Immediately, Mary Beth had an idea in her head based on my description of the simple, non-shiny/overpowering silver band with an organic looking turquoise stone. Ideally, I said that I wanted a stone that no one else could have and is unique to me. My husband wanted a simple band and he shared some ideas with her. She was overjoyed to get started on making my ring and also ordered a few options for my husband that he could come back and try on. She worked up until her vacation on my ring and finished it within two days of her return. When I went into the shop and saw my ring, I instantly started crying! It was everything I wanted and exceeded my expectations. Mary Beth’s incredible skill made it a reality! After a couple days of wearing my ring, I realized that it was just a bit too big because it was sliding around a bit. She was more than happy to size the band down, free of charge, and did so in a timely manner again because of our move! Mary Beth expressed that she wanted my ring to be perfect for me, which made me know that she really cared.nnNow, reflecting back on the experience, we realized that we were crazy to have waited until just under three weeks before moving to get going on this! I just smile when I look at my beautiful ring because it was important to me to connect with somebody who was going to create what I had in mind. Mary Beth is so personable, patient, down to earth, and extremely talented at what she does. Every time we walked in the shop, we felt like our needs were addressed and that she went above and beyond to make the experience easy for us. She did not hesitate to put our needs first and do anything she could to ensure that it would all get done before we moved.nnI recommend Mary Beth’s shop to you because I cannot imagine having any other ring than what I have! We did not want to go to a chain jeweler, we wanted something unique and Mary Beth’s shop was exactly what we wanted. I cannot stop telling people about her and my positive experience there! Encountering her was unforgettable and I am eternally grateful for her amazing skill in designing and creating such a wonderful reality!
