Went there in 96 at that time it was a union shop instructors were there 10 to 20 years. However it was a 2 week course average class size was 60. I have to admit we had plenty of yard time. They had about 15 yard trucks that were 20 plus years old. About 10 road trucks less then 10 years old all cabovers and 48' trailers but only got about 15 min of road time a day. Also because i didnt have my state issued birth certificate and new York didnt fedex it at the time they helped me out by giving me a job while i waited for it. I was able to start the next class and still worked for the extra money. After i graduated and passed my road test i still had a week before leaving for my first job. That monday they went around collecting the trucks from the weekend road tests. Bill Weaver who was the chief instructor, i think because he had diabetes and couldn't drive wanted me to drive one of them back but i still only had my permitt so he had too. I ended up getting banned from there for something i didnt do. While picking up the yard some of the new class tried to get me to help them I said i couldnt and changed the subject. One of the instructors Bill Fox (fat foxy) saw it and said i was helping and took me to weavers office and he took fox's side. About a year ago i heard fox died of aheart attack and weaver died from the diabetes. Also about 2 years ago the placement guy, Red retired and he was there about 50 years..

The need to improve on communication. Granted my son started his weekend training in February 2020 and then the COVID 19 pandemic hit. Classes were paused mid training, but some students drove from out of state to find out the morning of class that the last 3 classes were cancelled until further notice. We were told to look on FB for updates - what updates??? In late May my son was given the opportunity to test out mid way versus finishing classes, which we were grateful for because we were told weekend classes would not resume until fall. However when I called to inquire about if any portion of tuition would be refunded since he passed, it took two calls to talk with the owner and then he was RUDE! I thought I was very friendly in asking about possible partial refund (I could see it from both sides so was not really expecting a refund, but at least a return call). But there were 2 weekends of classes that he did not received and thus instructors were not paid. I'm mostly frustrated about lack of communication and the rudeness of the owner. He could have responded without being defensive, because like I said, I made the call thinking the chances of a refund were slim but I should at least call.

Took the two week class in 2010. Dan was my instructor and all 4 in our group tested in Portage and passed. Our factory shut down in 2008 and being 55 years old back then, truck driving school was an easy choice. They welcome all age groups.

Highly recommended to start your truck driving career. Instructors are super helpful and willing to teach!! I come from a family business where they don't have time to teach me everything, they sent me here and I absolutely love it! You get plenty of practicing backing up trailers, highway miles, in town miles, and going over your truck to learn more about it!! I recommend this school to anyone regardless of experience in trucking!!

I attended Diesel Driving School from February 2014 - March 2014 in Sun Prairie, WI. I found my experience at the school to be very educational. I previously had no experience driving a truck nor dealing with a truck engine; and literally knew nothing about the components on a truck and have never driven a stick shift on a vehicle previously to attending the school. I met a lot of interesting people and found the staff to be very knowledgeable. They were always willing to answer my questions and always went the extra mile to make sure I understood what I was doing. I wasn't crazy about how early in the morning we started classes but I suppose it was necessary to make sure we spent enough time learning. Upon graduation and passing the state road exam, I was able to secure employment within a month with Swift Transportation which is one of the companies that recruit at the school. I have been very happy driving a Big Rig and would advise anyone who is interested in learning truck driving to consider the program at the Diesel Driving School.
