Great people, no games or switching dogs at the last minute. The dogs they show available are available. And they let you come and see how the dogs get along and then they bring the dog to your home. And, the entire process is quick and easy. If the dogs get along in both greets, the dog stays at his new home.nnI inquired into 15 dogs, most never even responded. They lost my application or the dog has many requests. Some charge to apply, and the dogs are $300 - $600, with issues, medical problems and abuse. And most importantly, abandoned and maybe never in a shelter, or taken to a home, which is nicer until they have to leave. I have a rescue that for many weeks would not go outside or let me leash him. He may have felt he was moving again.nnPlus, most of the other rescues took a long time to decide who is most worthy. They have little to know info about the dogs, but they want your life story. One place asked how long would the dog be alone daily. My husband and I are retired, and we have another dog so the dog would never be alone. And the longest time would be 1 or 2 hours maybe 2 days a week if that. They said that was too long. And age is an issue, we are older so they wanted a plan for the dog if we passed. Well, everyone dies and not just old people. Car accidents, heart attacks, cancer and many unknowns cause death. I thought that was extremely, unreal. I could see if I wanted a small dog puppy. I have a 23yr old Jack Russell- Boston Terrier. My Weimaraner 115lbs lived to 16. I've had dogs that thanks to China have died a horrible death due to lead poison, as fosters and shelter dogs eat the cheap stuff. And they don't test for that.nnMy point, be careful with your choice of Rescues and Shelters. Just because it's clean doesn't mean the dogs are fine. And paying $600 for a dog without a history is a gamble.nnThings have changed and not for the better for some of these dogs.nnSo in the end I was lucky to land with Affinity Rescue. They checked my references and called the next day. I still haven't hear back from more than half of the dogs I applied for and was told they were available.nnWe choose a Dane/Husky, and can't wait for tomorrow. Instead of waiting for a call or text that never comes.
