A few years ago four of us that kayak our river at home, decided we needed a little adventure. We are still talking about the amazing time we had kayaking the apostle islands with Wilderness Inquiry. The staff took care of everything. We would never have had this experience without their equipment and expertise. I highly recommend this trip. I hope I can do it again with my grandchildren soon. Thanks Wilderness inquiry !!

Wonderful trip for this kayak rookie. Very supportive and knowledgeable staff and enthusiastic. Very rainy the first day but then the weather cooperated. Very much enjoyed Beth Dooley and her cooking sensations. Loved going to the farm and shopping in bayfield!!!

Wilderness Inquiry’s Kayak Base Camp near Bayfield WI is wonderful! Several years ago I participated in the Women’s Trip. It was such a great experience that this summer I returned with my husband and two other couples to join the Base Camp/Kayak Tour. The highlight of the trip was paddling through the sea caves! It was such a unique experience. Each day was filled with adventure. We have also gone to the Boundary Waters with W. I. The trips are very inclusive in nature and we have enjoyed meeting new people. Individuals should not hesitate to sign up even if they are traveling alone.nnThe camp itself is gorgeous and well maintained. Tents are on platforms and there are showers. The toilets are so high tech that you don’t even notice that they are not “flush”! Staff has always been supportive of the groups’ individual needs/wishes. Food is delicious and plentiful. In addition, by participating in a Wilderness Inquiry trip you are supporting an organization that also provides opportunities and scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to participate in these outdoor adventures.

I, my wife, and my ten-year-old daughter took a three-night family kayaking trip with Wilderness Inquiry on Lake Superior, near the Apostle Islands. We loved it. Our three guides (Brandon, Brian, and Abigail) were extremely friendly and capable, and the facilities were just right. We slept in comfortable tents on platforms in the base camp, then kayaked two mornings and canoed the third (the weather was too threatening to kayak). The food was delicious. We will definitely be back.

The facility is wonderful - serene, well organized, and within walking distance of the lake. The staff are great, knowledgeable, helpful, and fun! The kayak program is great for families, anyone who does not have the experience or comfort level to go solo, and those who are looking for an uplifting shared community experience. My 12 year old daughter and I had a wonderful time together.
