Historical business and a local historic presence. Many great monuments and headstones have come out of the Barre,Vt. quarries and Washington,D.C. has tons of our gray rock on display too. This company helped make this area what it is 2day and for that I am thankful! It also employed my in-laws for over 80yrs total and 4 that I am entirely grateful!

Awesome place to visit to learn about quarries. I recommend seeing the video before taking the tour, but our guide did a great job explaining things as he was a former driller. Kids did get a bit bored as he went into a lot of detail (though I enjoyed it). They offer a chance to pick up a rock sample at the end of the tour. The part the kids enjoyed best was the bowling. I recommend having someone stand at the end to pick up the pins and toss the rubber ball back.

A great tour of a local granite quarry. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept things interesting. Impressive operation and to think they did it all by hand in the beginning . If you stop by ask about their granite bowling alley- a novel experience

Great place to learn about Grave Stones and the quarry. They have a beautiful visitors center. Behind the factory building there is always a container full of Granite pieces. They make great paper weights.

Based on the glowing reviews I was excited to visit Rock of Ages. The actual visit was a bit of a disappointment, primarily because the young guide (he’d been doing this job for only three months) wasn’t particularly knowledgeable and had some tone issues in his delivery. On several occasions I had the distinct impression that he was making up answers when he didn’t know the real answer. I’m willing to write off a certain amount of the posturing to youth and lack of experience but it was a disappointment after reading the high praise of the older tour guides who had actually worked at the quarry for years.
