I had an appointment yesterday at Essex Family Dental and came away with yet another positive feeling from my visit. My family had moved our dental needs to Essex Family Dental because of repeated negative experiences with our previous dental care office where cleanings had been unnecessarily aggressive, painful, and expectations for further procedures were high. Not only do I always feel at ease when I arrive, I have no anxiety during my cleanings. The hygienists are always attentive, careful, provide great explanations during the work that their doing (whether it’s x-rays, cleanings, or fillings), and I get personally escorted to someone to wrap up my visit.nnMy expectation of care and concern for my family’s dental care has been exceeded.

I cannot say enough good things about Essex Family Dental. I had debilitating tooth pain all night last night. I called this office around 7:30, and they were able to schedule me in for 11am. Intake was quick and easy, they were able to get my infected teeth extracted. 4 hours post procedure, I am pain free. I've never been so thrilled with a dental visit before, nonetheless an emergency visit. My family and I will be patients for life!

I’ve been to my fair share of dental offices (relocated for convenience/location purposes) and I am very disappointed with mine and my daughters recent visits at Essex Family Dental. I feel the office cares more about money than being upfront with patients about potential out of pocket costs.nnAbout a month ago my daughter was seen for an emergency visit which I will say was very quick and easy to schedule and Dr Feely was informative and friendly. However upon checking out we were told that because of this emergency exam, her next routine exam would not be covered under insurance. Skeptical, I called our insurance provider to confirm. Turns out the office billed that exam as a routine exam which was not accurate, therefore showing that we exceeded our allowance. I left SEVERAL messages for the billing department and it took weeks before I got a reply. Fast forward to our most recent appt (standard cleaning), I am told I was “due for panoramic xrays”. Due to recent incorrect insurance claims and a level of mistrust at this point, I mentioned that I just had xrays and asked if these would be covered under insurance - I was told they would not be. Had I not asked and trusted that I was “due”, I would have been stuck with an unnecessary bill.nnOn top of this the hygienist came across as a bit condescending, speaking to me like a child. Just did not get a good feeling.

Where do I start. I’m a disabled Vet and I’ve been suffering with a bad tooth for months.Essex Family Dental has until recently been my dentist providing services for the VA, a few months ago the VA changed providers throwing everything into chaos just when I had an abscesses tooth. Even though they were no longer VA providers Essex family dental stabilized me at no cost to me while I found a VA provider. Weeks passed when I finally found a provider. From the get go it was a nightmare, it took 2 more weeks to be seen. Meanwhile Kathleen at Essex Family continued to work with me as Essex Family Dentists re established their contract with the VA. The new dentist started work on my tooth but stopped half way through saying they needed further authorization to complete the work and make a crown. Months have now passed, and still the work was not completed. Essex Family was still there for me and not only did Kathleen get me back on track for my regular cleaning, when I told her my root canal had not been completer she called the Va on my behalf and got the authorization to complete the root canal that day; something the other dentist couldn’t accomplish in over a month! I was absolutely floored. I can not say enough about the dentists and staff at Essex Family Dental. If you are a disabled Veteran eligible for dental services through the VA I strongly encourage you to call Essex Family Dental today you will not be sorry. I feel like family whenever I deal with them and they will make you feel like family too.

I love getting my teeth cleaned! Essex Family Dental is an extremely well-run practice. Excellent management of patient appointments, which equals little to no wait time. Super friendly front desk staff! EFD dentists and hygienists have a wonderful “chair-side” manner and a huge shout-out to Jenn who really rocked my cleaning today!! I have complete confidence in this practice.
