First I’d like to say I’ve known Ed for 30yrs, I bought my first mustang performance parts from him. He is the reason I wanted to go fast. However over 2yrs and 10 months ago, I referred my father to him to rebuild his 351 from his 1969 Mustang. My father asked for longevity for his originally owned 52yr old car. It took Ed 2 years and 6 months to build it. Now, with that said, he had family issues that I totally understand and the time frame wasn’t an issue. The issue was when the engine had a bad lifter on exhaust valve cyl #5, I wasn’t expecting him to warranty it or even fix it as I could do that, spoke with him and even he told me to get the tie bar lifters which is used typically when updating a non-roller block. Anyway, took the intake off and found a rusted spider bracket used to hold the dog bones down on 5.0 Mustang lifters. The spider bracket was slightly bent on the lifter in question. The lifters he used clearly had some miles on them from previous use, also the cam shaft that I could see with the dist out looked rusted as well. Anyway, yes you can use 5.0 Mustang parts to upgrade a non roller engine, but the spider bracket and dog bones are $50 new, a set of FRPP lifters are $250? Why wouldn’t he get them? My issue is that he was impossible to get ahold of, he never gave my father a build sheet, used bad parts when my dad paid him >$10k all before even getting the engine back for longevity, which he didn’t as I had to fix it due to Ed using used parts, which would have been fine if he at least told my dad. I guess he didn’t figure on me being a former Ford Tech and ability to rebuild engines myself, my dad had Ed do it because of my work schedule. Anyway, Ed was definitely the best there is at one time, but word of advice, don’t tell him your not in a hurry like my father mistakenly did, do not pay him for all the work upfront, get a parts list used upfront as well or buy your own. My dad was more then fair, gave him a new set $250 of 1.6 Energizer rockers, the old heads and other things and Frankly, Ed treated my father like dirt no matter what he thinks. I have all the pics and videos if anyone wants to call bs. Bottom line, do it right or don’t do it Ed.

So much to say so little space to say it! I'll preface this by saying that we as people experience things as we trudge through life that are both good and bad. Once in a while, you experience extraordinarily difficult trials that are beyond the norm and once in a while you hit the jackpot! I heard about Ed through a Ford tuner who I also revere highly and I have to tell you, it was hands down the best automotive engine related decision I've ever made. Ed built me a 351 windsor for my 1988 mustang back in 2013 that makes around 670 horsepower on pump gas. Ed hit all my targets including driveability, parts quality, price, reliability and most importantly precision quality assembly. I routinely start my car in all climates from cold winter at 32 degrees to hot summer at 90 degrees without any hesitation or drop in oil pressure or anything. I warm my car up for 10 or 15 minutes and hit the rev limiter @ 6,500 rpms virtually every single time I stab the accelerator and can indeed count on my car to repeat that behavior with 110% certainty that it will do it flawlessly every time. I have many friends who have comparable engines by a variety of manufacturers; everything from 5.0's to LS's to toyotas and in between that have spent 15,000 dollars plus only to have their engine fail from a variety of problems. Everything from bearings that were improperly clearanced to installion of sub quality parts to just plain old bad tuning and every time, the assembler blames the user and winds up costing the user another large sum of money to have it reassembled by the same person that the failure occurred with in the first place and with Ed, you just don't get that. He knows parts combos that work and work well, he checks his clearances over and over and over again to ensure that when and engine leaves his shop, it leaves for good and doesn't return! I can't say enough about Ed as an engine assembler and just a good man in general. I'll be a customer of Ed's forever and I recommend you should be too!
