If you value education don’t bother with this school, I’m serious. Don’t be fooled by the new building, avoid this school if it’s possible. There are other schools nearby that are better & just by looking at this school’s profile on the dcps website it shows exactly what this school really is. I am a substitute teacher who works there often. Many of the students are great to work with and the staff, administration, and security are strong. A very welcoming environment indeed.
I was able to tour the new facility after the excellent historic renovation & modernization. Very glad they reused the idea from the Wilson HS project to make the courtyard useful again. Now it's up to the administration and teachers (and parents) to show what a difference they can make on the students and earn a star upgrade on my rating. Good luck!
I attended a few night classes here many years ago during my senior high school days. The only thing I remember about this place was Ms. Whitfield, a kind-hearted, gentle, and patient teacher who taught us English and Literature.
I paid to have my transcript sent over to another school, the school stuff sent the transcript unofficially so I have been trying to get this corrected for the last month 1/2. The staff never returns calls, are very nasty when someone does actually answer the phones. They need better staff in the main office that can handle the call volume of a high school.
