Avamere Rehabilitation of Hillsboro

My mother was transported to this place for rehabilitation after a surgery from a fall.nShe was only there for 12 days / 13 nights, and in that short time she was not taken care of properly.nShe had to sit in her own feces for two hours, and a Nurse made her bleed from her sutures. (She tried to deny this, my mom said she took the bloody sheets out before she could report it.)nShe said she was in fear at night when this nurse was in charge of her.nMy experience with the front office when I tried to call, and was transferred to the nurse station, and after leaving multiple messages to call me back, they were never returned... I was told, that is all she could do. When I was able to talk to my mom, you could hear other patients in the background screaming for help.nMy experience was unsatisfactory, you would think at a time with the coronavirus they would be more compassionate.nWe were not able to visit, other than outside her window, due to the virus, and I feel they really took advantage of that!nover all not a good facility.nIt looks nice on the outside, but as they say... its what's on the inside that counts. :(

The physical therapy seems to be great here, and mom liked the people she worked with, which is huge. However, it's of great concern to me that I have a really hard time getting in touch with staff and getting called back in any sort of reasonable time frame: I've left multiple messages, multiple days without getting responses, and unless I'm persistent enough to keep calling until I get someone, and then to call back if I'm transferred to voice mail and insist on being transferred to someone who's actually there and willing to answer the phone, I just get dead air - no response.nnIt was also really upsetting to have talked to 3-4 people and left multiple messages about the fact that mom only had access to her reading glasses though I dropped her regular glasses off for her - it took me going there on Sunday after having dropped them off Wednesday and insisting on talking to the nurse (no mean feat in the time of COVID) that they even looked - all three of the bags I'd dropped off for her with clean clothes, her glasses, and her shoes (the ambulance took her with two right shoes, which she then wore all week without anyone noticing) had been stashed somewhere and not given to her.

I am a resident here right now and I would not recommend this place for my worst enemy. The place is old. The staff get an attitude when u ask for help. They take forever to respond to you once I ring the bell. I over hear staff telling residents to just go to sleep. Yesterday I told the staff that my sugar was dropping (I’m diabetic) and they told me to hold on and it took them about 15 minutes to come check my sugar. I am not to put weight on my right foot so I can only use my left foot and sometimes when I ring the bell to ask for help using the bathroom they never come. So about after 10-15 minutes I’m like forget this and I bunny hop to the toilet with my left leg. I can’t wait til my stay is done with. When I leave I will be calling the board on this facility

The staff shows disregard for the patient’s comfort and well-being.

Just came from a visit with our neighbor who had a fall at home. This place looks great from the outside, but inside is another story. No receptionist at the front door. The room our neighbor is in is old with popcorn ceilings with that ugly yellow hospital colored paint. It is quiet and we are not sure about the care, but one nurse came in when our neighbor had soiled her Depends, ripped the sheet off and told her she was disgusting!!! Anyway, that nurse is not allowed in our neighbors room. Also the diet they have her on is gross. Pureed corn and food that looks like dog food. Keep requesting swallow studies, but not sure if the person knows what they doing as far as the swallow study goes. Our neighbor was eating regular food in the ICU!!!! Anyway, this is a typical old rehab place that looks wonderful in the photos, but not a place I would ever have one of my family in. A 3 star rating is way above would I really wanted to put give this place. I feel so bad that our neighbor was sent to this place by Kaiser. She doesn't deserve to be treated the way she is. Oh and she has a mark across her belly from the gait belt that one of the therapist used on her. Abuse I tell you!!!
