Mickey's Cakes & Sweets

GREAT EXPERIENCE!! We will definitely be using Mickey's for all of our cake needs!! I placed an online order on Thursday morning for my daughter's birthday on Saturday. When I received the confirmation email, it said our cake would be ready for us on Sat, Oct 24. We needed it for Sat, Oct 17. I sent an email asking if they could have it ready for me that quick but understanding completely if they couldn't. I got a quick response letting me know that they could have it ready and it looked better than what I had originally asked for. The cake was beautiful, moist and tasty. We were all very happy with the results. Thanks for delivering on such short notice and helping me make my daughter's 17th Birthday even more special!!

Mickeys delivered over and beyond on what I needed when I came in to order a last minute cake. The cake was beautiful and the quality was everything I expect from a cake when we order Mickeys! We are never disappointed when we come here and will always choose Mickeys for any and all of our cake or dessert needs!

I visited Mickey’s Cakes & Sweets on the morning of 9/2/20 at approximately 11:45 am. I am new to Arkansas and here pursuing my Doctorate degree at UAMS. The service received this morning was highly disappointing to say the least. I was celebrating my 30th birthday the following week and searched everywhere for an appropriate bakery to produce my milestone cake. I had read amazing reviews about Mickey’s and was pleased with the pictures presented online, so of course I had the highest of expectations.nnAs soon as I walked inside that morning, I immediately notice, of course, signs on the floor indicating social distancing measures and the requirement of face masks (picture provided). However, immediately after acknowledging the signs, I look up to see a customer placing his order at the counter with NO MASK on. Not only that, I proceed to view the young lady at one of the cash registers checking him out with NO MASK on as well! I was moreso appalled at the disregard to clear policy displayed around your entire store (and a statewide mandate) than the actual non-compliance of the mask itself. After waiting in line about 10 minutes, the cashier without the mask asks me to approach for service. I proceed to ask her “Do you have a mask you can put on please?” I had done this at several other locations in Mississippi (where I had just relocated from) and employees/staff have had no problem in doing so out of respect for the customer and simple customer service, especially when I’m about to give you $100 of my money for a cake. However, instead of showing me this respect, the cashier simply responded “No” with a slight smirk. No apology, no concern about going to locate a mask, nothing. After this, I told her that’s okay, I would wait for the next cashier to become available because she was wearing her mask. After this exchange, the non-mask cashier proceeded to do some other work as if nothing had occurred and again expressed no concern.nnOn top of this occurrence, as I proceeded to place my cake order, I overheard the same mask-less worker loudly expressing to the other two employees, “Did you hear that lady tripping over $30?!” As if this comment wasn’t inappropriate on its own, to make these comments as LOUDLY and as clearly as she did for other customers to hear was beyond inconsiderate and very highly unprofessional.nnI would hate to think that this employee is of a supervisor role, but it seems to be the case.nnOne last observation: I was so excited because I just received my new student ID with UAMS and had noticed on our school website that a 10% discount was offered at this location to students/employees for cake orders. After asking about the discount and showing my ID, the same employee’s response was “we only do it ‘sometimes’, please check back later and we may be doing it”. I shrugged and proceeded to order and could have easily made an ordeal with pulling out my phone and showing her the school website with the offer. However, I was so over it at this point and ready to get out of the establishment after the initial customer seen with no mask was coughing loudly (and I’m definitely not hurting for 10%) but it’s still the principle of it all. The student discount response occurring right after the earlier interaction can only lead the customer to feel as if she was taking it out on them for asking her to wear a face covering. The customer service and handling of this all was just so outrageous to me.nnIf the mask-wearing cashier had not been available (and if I didn’t need this cake so badly) Mickey’s Cakes & Sweets would NOT have gotten my money and my service on that day. Again, being new to the area and after hearing so many great reviews about the actual product (which I don’t doubt the cake will be good) this lack of policy and concern for the CUSTOMER was the most appalling experience I have had in a while. The simple lack of hospitality was by far the most disappointing and has left such a bad impression on my first month in Arkansas. I will not be purchasing or recommending here again. Save your money.
