Nobody can site tax law let alone explain how they come up with numbers. The supervisor named Shawna had zero customer service skills and clearly has no interest in learning tax law to better help the taxpayers. All they want is your money and do nothing to help you get your own money back.

Thought this was a hoax, at first. We contacted our local tax accountant and they verified the letters legitimacy. We provided all pertinent documentation to decrease the amount being collected. After a review of our Schedule Cs we received notification that there was still "an unresolved discrepancy". The letter stated we would receive a notice of assessment which we did not receive. It was sent to a mailing address that hasn't been used in a decade, however all other prior notices were directed to the current address. This minor oversight, now has caused us to be "delinquent taxpayers." We were not given a notification of "due process" in order to set up arrangements for payment. Our refund was automatically collected without our knowledge of any existence of an amount due. We were not provided the 30 days to rebut the assessment either. If the assessment was dated 28 March 2016 as stated via an email, our 30 days isn't up, so how can our refund be collected involuntarily? Every document we received reflected as a "POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT"! -Original notification was erroneous. Attempted to collect monies not due to the state. -Was never notified if the amount assessed was valid or correct. -No breakdown of calculations of the amount assessed. -Notification of any monies due was not provided in a timely manner, which caused automatic collection of personal state tax refund. -Upon receiving the notification that our refund was offset, the information provided was vague. No calculations provided. Several offset periods and amounts were annotated with no explanation of the amounts
